Review │ Mud face mask

Today's review is on an all natural mud mask that I bought.

I found this mud mask on Ebay (yes I done my research on it before I bought it and vetted the seller) So now that I have done all the right things it's time to click buy now, it cost me £2.50 with free P&P. All I have to do now is wait for it to be delivered. It took around 7-10 days. Once I received it I was very ready to try it out!  I did wait a few days before trying it thought because of busy schedules etc... The mud came  with some instructions, I have written them out below.

Instructions; Mix the mud with filtered water, warm water from the tap or rose water. Mix it together in a non metallic bowl and with a non metallic spoon. Once mixed leave for 5 - 10 minutes to airate. Once ready, spread on area of skin you wish to use on. Any left over can be put in a container, shut air tight and kept in the fridge for up to 7 days.

My initial thoughts are what the.... I knew it was all broken up from the picture on Ebay but I thought it would come in packaging that specified a brand on it... apparently not. But I decided to go a head and use it anyway, All the feedback was great on it so why not!
As you would expect it smells very earthy and natural.

So I set up all my stuff, ready to use and get down to business.

Pouring the mixture into my little jar.

The mixture is in the Jar ready to be mixed with the filtered water I chose.

Time to pour the water in!
Now I get down to mixing...
It smells just like earth. Its amazing.
My Mud mask is now ready to be left for 5-10 minutes.

The mask has been left, I have put it on my face and WOW it is tightening straight away. I cannot move my face at all for fear of it cracking. The smell has gone away, I don't smell it at all now. For a mud mask I really like how it is tightening me skin, That is something I always look for in mud masks.
Time to wash it off!
I use a cloth and soap to get it off, first reaction? My face feels like heaven. So smooth to the touch. I then wait around 10 minutes (not on purpose but because I had to clean up leon's food) And I use my cleanser and toner.
Now comes the negative...

As soon as I put the cleanser on my face, my skin was BURNING. oh wow how sore it was. I then proceeded to use toner and that didn't help one bit! no no no.
I run to the bathroom and splash lots of cold water on my face to help the burning sensation, it helps a bit so I proceed to cover it in cream to help. I wait around 10-15 minutes then look in the mirror again.... My face is RED! I honestly feel like it burning. All that is running through my mind right now is that what if my skin is permanently damaged.

I can tell you this, I will never EVER buy anything like that off Ebay again and I would NOT recommend it to anyone.
Please, be careful when buying offline. You just never know what could happen to your skin. I am lucky, my skin feels fine now which is 3 days later. I am lucky but it could have been a lot worse.

  1. Wow! That's crazy what happened to you! Thanks for the warning!

  2. WOW! That is scary. You should get in touch with the company who manufactures that stuff and let them know what happened. They should have some sort of warning or advise you to use it on a small patch of skin before your spread it all over your face!

    1. I know! I really wasn't thinking when I didn't do a patch test! Usually I always remember to test new stuff like that on my neck. I tried to contact the seller to tell them my experience and so that they could amend their ad with a warning of some sort but their shop had been deleted! So I just contacted eBay about it instead. They really should have had a warning about it or had something like that on the instructions.

  3. That's awful! Glad you have recovered! I used a nip and fab glycolic mask and had an awful reaction to it! Burning and red blotchy patches!

I only really use lush mask now because I know they are all natural ingredients however I have started using the new Loreal masks and I love them!
