Colourelements Blogger Event

07:00:00

On Wednesday the 24th August I was invited along to the Colour Elements blogger event at Castle Galleries in Princes Square Glasgow which was in collaboration with The Body Shop, Sugar Dumplin and SnuggleMuffin. I was so excited because it was my first ever blogger event that I was able to attend. To say it amazing would be a complete understatement.

On arrival I received one of Sugar Dumplins amazing rum cocktails which was so delicious and entered the beautiful gallery which was filled with other bloggers. It was really nerve racking to begin with but after I spotted Bethany from Fryingthenest I felt a little more at ease. I got to meet the lovely Charlene from Charlenedoesbeauty who was talking to Bethany at the time so getting to know other's there was great. I also got to meet Lindsey from Lindseylou who I have followed on twitter for a while, I actually recognised her from her shoes haha I seen on her instagram that she was wearing some beautiful red ones and I knew it was her.

After sipping away at my drink and networking I was invited into the "hub" where Karen Finn the company leader was talking about the company, what it's all about and how getting your unique colour ID can help transform you. One thing that Karen said that completely stuck with me was that most of us use about 20% of our wardrobes and the other 80% is just left sitting there, gathering dust because we just don't wear those clothes and it really makes so much sense! I know that I was nodding away whilst listening to Karen talk, I am one of those people who have 20% I actually wear. When I got my colour ID I found out that my colours are Air and Water which was.... YES! I loved all the colours that I seen and I was even complimented on getting my colours right because the dress I was wearing had a few of my selected colours in it... not going to lie, I felt a bit proud of myself haha. Right now the colour elements app is only available for iPhone/iPad on apple store and is currently FREE until September. You send in a picture and your colour ID will be sent to you and from there you can create colour cards, have outfits sent to you within the app for you to have a look at and so much more! What I particularly loved was that you can create so many different colour cards, save them, send them and more. It will save me so much time with shopping because now I know what will suit me rather than washing my skin out with colours that don't compliment me at all.

Here is some info from their website
" We are colour crusaders! We believe that for too long we have been left in the dark, not sure which colours make us look brilliant and buying colours of clothes that have not served us well. Colour Elements was created to empower you through colour to make your best clothing purchases. We don’t believe in waste – whether it’s your money, time or the environment. Our knowledge of colour helps you buy wisely, loving every piece of clothing. Join us as we aim to change lives through the power of colour within clothing and stop the waste of unworn clothes. Colour Elements celebrates the individual features that make you unique and wonderful. Colour within clothing empowers customers to see themselves in a new and positive way and can change the way that others perceive them. Some customers have come to us because they want a new job, promotion or relationship. Others recognise that colour affects their appearance and they want to discover how to look their best in every situation.  We can bang on about landfills full of clothes but you’ve probably heard it before. Or the water pollution? Or the working conditions of the people who make clothes? We know that fashion retail is the second biggest globally polluting industry second only to the oil industry*. These facts can make us feel uneasy so it’s easier to remain ignorant but Colour Elements is determined to help customers really enjoy their appearance and the clothes they wear without guilt.
*Click here to see The True Cost movie trailer, a film recommended for everyone who wears clothes. If we prolong the life of a garment by 3 months we can reduce our carbon footprint by 5 – 10% and that’s no hardship if we actually WANT to keep wearing those clothes because we look so good in them. Colour Elements is committed to helping you feel good about how you look and how the environment is benefiting from your good fashion practice

It really was amazing to find out so much information about a company that I heard of before, I now feel a little better knowing my colour ID when it comes to choosing clothes. After I found out about the brand I went back to talking to the girls and we all moved into the big area of the gallery where Karen from Colour Elements had a talk to us about the brand and had a visual demonstration about just how much clothes and the colour of them can enhance your appearance. After the talk I got to network some more meeting some more wonderful girls, Ashley from hiyaitsashley, Robyn from heythererobyn and Claire from Scottishskin. At the event ZiZis also put on some great food in the form of pizzas! I didn't personally have any but I heard it tasted amazing. The Body Shop also had a little counter set up where we could go and find out about their brand new face masks which are all about combining different masks for different areas of your skin. The idea behind it all is that very rarely will we have skin that is the same all over so using different masks on different parts of the face makes more sense! We got our own personal "Face mask map" which showed us what masks would be best for our skin, the consultation was brilliant and I really enjoyed finding out more about The Body Shops products.

All in all the event as a whole was great I got to meet some bloggers I already knew of and meet some others that are just so lovely. Networking, finding out about new products plus cocktails and pizza? perfect.

  1. First blogger events are always so exciting! I went to my first not that long ago. The Colour Elements really intrigued me because I'm one that used 20% too! And I've noticed it! Which clothes I go for and which are left hanging in my closet. It's too bad I don't have an iPhone to try this out but when I finally get one, I will definitely be downloading the app! Congrats on having a great time at the event! xx

  2. This sounds like a lovely event (I was sold on the rum cocktail lol). The colour ID is a fab idea and I totally agree about the majority of our wardrobes being unworn. It explains how I can open my full-to-bursting wardrobe and still feel like I have nothing to wear!
