Moments pass, Memories are forever *Printiki

Throughout life we capture some of our most favourite moments in pictures, These moments are sometimes over in a flash and then new moments happen so we push the others further into our memories and often forget about them unwillingly until we look at a picture that captures the magic so perfectly. I get very nostalgic when it comes to flicking through old photos, it brings all the emotions crashing back into my mind.
Moments pass, memories are forever.

For me this couldn't be more true, since having my son I have started taking 10x more pictures which I didn't think was possible seeing as I was always that friend who had a camera with them and snapped everything she could so that I would have pictures to remember the good times with. But when Leon came along I took more pictures because as they say, they grow too quickly. I remember his first steps, his first word and many other moments that will never leave me but they aren't always on my mind and it takes looking at a photo to stir up all those emotions once again. I'm a photo hoarder, I have photo albums upon photo albums in my cupboard, all filled with pictures that make my soul happy. I guess that's why I want to be a professional photographer, because I love taking photos so much and it's part of my everyday life now, I'm always snapping something or other whether it be Leon laughing or my gran gardening, I want something that when I look at it in 20 years time, I'll remember how I felt that day.

One day I will go through all the pictures I've been taking with Leon, I'll show him his cheeky grin, the photo of the long walk we took, one from when we visited uncle Ross and we went to the big park, His utter joy shining through at christmas and so many other moments that will forever be in my heart that I want him to know about.
These pictures from Printiki are perfect because I love the "Instagram style" of them, They are the Square M ones with a white border and to me they really do resemble Instagram photos so I want to create a sort of Instagram feed with them in a scrap book. I opted for the glossy finish because to me that's what makes a picture, you know the physical print out ones, it really sets the whole tone of them for me and makes me feel a little nostalgic.

Growing up we would always flick through the photos, reminiscing about my childhood, my mums, my grans and even my great grandads. I think that's where I got my thing for hoarding photos, my gran keeps them all and I love it, I loved learning the history of my relatives and having a physical picture to help me imagine it all. The feeling of the glossy photos always did make me love them that little more and the smell of the old photos, now they were the best part of seeing them all.

I really do love how a picture can speak a thousand words and can be completely different depending on the person. You both could have shared the same moment but had different feelings about it. For me pictures are a big part of my life, I'm surrounded by them daily; on my walls, in my purse, in my journal, in my phone, on my blog, Twitter, Instagram and more, they are very special to me that's for sure.

Being able to have your special moments, no matter what they are, printed so you have a physical copy is a great feeling. What I really loved about the Printiki website was being able to choose what to go for, the size, the border, the finish, you can really create what you want and have them delivered to you. What makes Printiki different to others sites for me is the fact you can customise them, the retro ones are great because it's like Polaroids and you can add your own captions to them, it's a really authentic, retro feel in my opinion. The whole process is really easy as well! You can connect your social media accounts and get pictures from there or upload them yourself and that's great! I was able to get some pictures off of my personal Instagram that I don't have saved but I wish I did, now I have a physical copy of them that I can keep forever.

Being able to talk about something that's so precious to me feels amazing, I don't often talk about my love for photos but it's there, in my heart. The photos are an escape for me, a way to remember everyone who has passed away that I love. I can still see them everyday, I can also watch my boy grow and even though he's getting big now, I still have those pictures of him as a tiny baby, like he's frozen in time. I can see my photography develop, getting better with time. It really is amazing what photos can do to someone, help them remember the past, capture the now and influence the future.

  3. What lovely photos! I definitely agree, since having Darcie time has gone far too quickly and my camera roll is full of photos of her. I know she's only 3 months but in those 3 months she's changed so much. Printiki seems great I love the style of photos and I need to get Darcies printed off

  9. Loved reading this post! So many of us forget to print pictures now - all it would take would be Facebook to crash and I would probably lose the majority of my photos! Leon looks so cute in those photos xxxx
