CAU Restaurant Glasgow

CAU restaurant in glasgow

Hello Lovelies!

Today I'm gonna tell you all about CAU in Glasgow. A beautiful restaurant situated in the city centre with friendly staff, fab food and a simple yet beautiful decor. My bestie (Lisa) and I went for brunch on Saturday 10th and I had high hopes before we even got there as I researched the place before hand, I must say, they did not disappoint.

As soon as we walked through their door the whole place screamed LUXURY! The decor is simple yet beautiful, a place that makes you feel like you're sitting in a restaurant that screams money! But when you look at the menu you soon see it's affordable prices for an amazing experience. The staff are super friendly and there for when ever you need them plus full of good chat.

We were shown to our seats which was near the window, the whole front of the restaurant is these big open windows which at first made me nervous because passers by can watch you whilst you eat but after sitting for a few minutes I soon got over that "fear" of sorts. The big windows made for the perfect lighting in getting some serious Instagram worthy shots. The whole ambience of the place was really nice and I felt relaxed throughout, it wasn't fast paced to the point I felt rushed and we really could have sat there all day ordering Peaches and Cream drinks, chatting away, the atmosphere was on point for sure.

I do want to apologise in advance for the amount of pictures in this post, I'm not really sorry, but this is a warning. I just couldn't resist the natural lighting and gorgeous decor.

As you can see the place is quite big without feeling like it's a huge open space that they haven't done much with. The sleek black tables and injection of blue throughout is goals. There is a down stairs and up meaning there is plenty of seats but I don't doubt that they would be extremely busy at prime times as not even half an hour after we arrived the whole downstairs looked full. I can see me going there to try out their dinner menu next because I just want to get back in there and have a wee drink.

When I went to check out their toilets which were up stairs I had a nice little surprise in the form that they have an elevator for anyone in a wheelchair or who can't physically get upstairs. It's not often that you find somewhere that will cater for everyone's need in such a heartfelt way, now I know it's just an elevator and some people may be thinking that these should be standard if the toilets are up stairs but you would be surprised at the amount of places I've been to that do not cater for everyone and that annoys me, so CAU definitely get brownie points for this in my eyes.

Funky Light

As always I HAD to check out their toilets, that's such a big thing for me when it comes to restaurants as I feel if their toilets are clean, their kitchen is clean. I don't know why I think like that but I do. Anyway, I checked out their toilets and WOW! They get a gold star and the award for best toilets I've came across. Each individual toilet is huge! and looks spotless with beautiful toilets. The skin's are lovely and I am so in love with the grass wallpaper, it's a lovely contrast to the blue that's in their restaurant decor. I also LOVE the light's they have in the toilet's, they are so unique and now I feel like I need one in every room in my house!  So the toilet's passed with flying colours.

Coca cola sprite

To start with Lisa and I ordered soft drinks but soon decided to get a cheeky little alcohol beverage to go along with our brunch, I couldn't pass up the chance to try out their Mimosas and Lisa went for their Peaches and Cream (it tastes like heaven by the way and I need them in my life every day...)

cocktails

For brunch Lisa and I decided to go for their CAU Breakfast (£9.95) Which consists of; Pork & herb sausage, morcilla black pudding, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, smoked bacon and sourdough toast.

I had mine without Mushrooms and Tomatoes whilst Lisa got hers without Black pudding. Then we got their Coal Roasted Peaches to share (£5.25) which comes with Granola, natural yoghurt and honey.

The CAU Breakfast was AMAZING! The taste of those sausages... YES! I have no idea what was in them but their tasted absolutely fantastic, I would have happily had 4 on my plate and finished them with no bother. The bacon was cooked just the way I like it and their Sourdough toast... I need to have that with my breakfast all the time, it tasted amazing, like I really have no more words for it, I would highly recommend trying it if you ever get the chance because you wont be dissapointed.

Going by Lisa's reaction she also really loved the breakfast and I know her favourite thing was the sausages, she kept talking about how tasty they were. All in all, the breakfast was a winner! Don't get me wrong, £9.95 for a breakfast sounds a bit expensive, I get that, but if you fancy treating yourself to a luxury brunch, try it, it's so worth it and I wouldn't hesitate to order it again, in a heartbeat I would have it.

Healthy Breakfast

Now onto the Coal Roasted Peaches... Lisa and I shared this, I thought it would be a great Idea to get as it would freshen up our pallets after a breakfast, GOSH WAS I RIGHT! The natural yoghurt tasted fantastic and paired with the granola it gave a great texture in my mouth, refreshing it and was very light on the stomach. The peaches tasted so fresh which was nice because I hate places where their fruit tastes quite hard, like they have had it a few day's but these peaches were soft, sort of melted in my mouth almost and altogether these 3 different foods complimented each other perfectly, I was seriously impressed with this dish and I think £5.25 is a very reasonable price for the portion you're getting and the experience of having it. I will most definitely order this again.

All in all I am impressed with CAU, they have met my expectations and more. The staff were amazing, the food was perfect and the experience as a whole was a winner. I can genuinely say, wholeheartedly that I will be back. I will have brunch there again. I will try out their dinner menu and I WILL have another peaches and cream. It's somewhere I have walked past often thinking "that's too expensive for me" without actually checking their prices and now I see that they are quite reasonable and no one should feel un-easy going in to try the place out. If you are ever in Glasgow city centre, go check this place out and order a peaches and cream for me!
