Our Week In Ibiza: Pt 1

On the 7th of October Katie and I flew to Ibiza to spend a whole week chilling out and having an amazing time away. I can't lie, It was one of the best holidays I have ever been on, I completely see the appeal of the place and I now understand why Katie loves the place so much.

All of Friday Katie and I were anticipating flying off to the sun, it couldn't come quick enough. The taxi rolled up around half 2 in the morning and off we went, the realisation hadn't set in yet that for a whole week I was off mummy duty, I was free to relax and wouldn't be hit with buzz lightyear every morning to wake me up haha. The early morning flight was tiring and lack of sleep had me a little cranky but I managed to get a bacon and mayo roll before getting on the plane and I also slept pretty much the whole way there. Once we touched down in Ibiza the reality set in.... WE ARE ON HOLIDAY!

Getting off the plane and through customs etc... was easy enough, I was actually quite surprised how fast it was to get through, get our bags and get to the bus. Unfortunately our bus wasn't in yet so we had to wait about 15 - 20 minutes. We went outside for air and see what the weather was like, whilst standing around waiting I was lucky enough to have a wasp crawl INTO my SHOE and sting my foot... That was the best start I could have asked for right? haha literally a minute or so later the bus came... as we were getting on the bus I also went over on my ankle, I was so worried that this was a glimpse into how our whole week was going to go.

Saturday

We got to our hotel, Mar Y Huerta which looked a little small on the outside but to be honest that didn't bother me, we were going to be spending most of our time out the hotel anyway. I was really glad the place was clean though. We had a superior twin room on the 3rd floor, to be honest if that was superior I would hate to see the standard as it was just two beds with a bathroom really. Not that it wasn't nice, it was, it was clean, plenty of room and our balcony was a complete suntrap which was perfect for catching some late afternoon sun whilst getting ready etc... The pool area was small but nice and because it wasn't height of the season you were always able to get a bed by the pool which was really quiet... It seemed to be mostly older clientele who were there but I didn't mind that, I really like quiet places because I know I wont be kept up all night.  All in all the hotel was great, I really liked it and would stay again, my only complaint was lack of bacon but the amount of times Katie and I just went out for breakfast because of me not getting in till like 5 am made up for that haha.

On our first day we didn't do much, we explored Es cana a little to see what shops were around, checked out the beach and bought some alcohol for the week so we could have pre drinks whilst getting ready. It was lovely to just settle in and get our surrounding. I really enjoyed it because that night we had a fabulous sleep! probably the best one of the whole week as we became little party animals from then on in haha.

Sunday

Sunday rolled around and we decided to take it easy and laze by the pool all day with some cocktails in the afternoon. We fell asleep by the pool, listened to music, chilled out and had a look around some shops which was really nice. The whole day was lazy which is my kinda holiday. Come dinner time we ate at the hotel which wasn't bad food, if I'm honest I can't remember what I ate for dinner that night but I did enjoy it. After having dinner we had a drink at our hotel and then headed to popeyes for some entertainment and drinks. Honestly, the entertainment wasn't that funny, I was expecting more as they started off not too bad but it just got worse and worse which meant we decided to call it a night and head back to the hotel where we put on music and stayed on the bloggerstribe account.... if you follow either of us on Instagram you probably seen our drunken faces haha. We ended up going to sleep and waking up on the Monday which saw us slowly start drinking more and more haha

Monday

On Monday we decided to jump on a bus and headed to Santa Eulalia, the town where Katie normally stays when she goes to Ibiza. It was really nice seeing the place, the views were breathtaking, I was so consumed by beauty which was amazing. We walked past some beautiful shops, along the beach front and then along the marina, I was so taken by it all... If some millionaire took me on his speed boat or yacht I would have gladly went haha I couldn't stop snapping pictures, the whole place was just stunning. We ended up having to sit for a while and have a rest because my legs were getting really sore (Yay Fibro!) but sitting there meant we got to see a little lizard... EATING SICK! It was horrible, like a car crash but you can't look away. After sitting for a while off we went again heading to Sol, the hotel where Katie normally stays to see if we could see any of her friends and how much the hotel had changed. When there we ordered a smoothie and Katie seen Angel, one of the staff members she knows from going there every year and we made plans to meet up with him later that night. After finishing our smoothies off we went again to get a bus back to Es Cana, luckily the bus only takes like 10 minutes which isn't so bad but it seemed to take forever to come, well, it took us forever to realise our bis was sitting there haha. Once we got back to the hotel we decided to go for a swim which was nice although I was absolutely freezing! I don't know why my body goes like that but it drives me nuts. After having a swim and a wee sit down on the beds we headed to the room to get ready for the night ahead and I was dreading washing my hair because of the heat but it was actually quite nice to get a shower and cleaned up. After swapping outfits a few times I ended up settling on a lovely wrap around dress I picked up from new look for £6... not going to lie, it's now one of my favourite little dresses, it fits amazingly and I love the pattern of it.

After dinner we decided to stay at the hotel bar and take advantage of happy hour... we got 4 Malibu and coke for 6 euros 40 which isn't at all bad! naturally we had 4 each... why not, we are on holiday after all. We also took part in the quiz that night and ended up doing a lot better than we thought we would. After the quiz was done we sang happy birthday to Gucci, the woman who does the entertainments dog and Tony persuaded us to have our second lot of drinks (Tony was one of the waiters there, he always had a smile on his face and I loved seeing him everyday as he always made fun of how hungover I was haha) After having some drinks at the hotel we went for a walk around before going to Grannies, a little night club type place that has karaoke and fab music. There we met up with Katie's friends, had a few drinks plus shots and just had an all round great night. Near the end of the night we all started playing music on our phones, I let Angel hear one of my favourites from the week, blossoms - Honey sweet and we were all talking about songs we loved etc... during this time a Moroccan man (The creepy guy) started to dance to our songs which was harmless, we found it funny but when the bar closed we decided to take a walk across the road and sit on the bench talking. At this time the Moroccan man came over and started to talk to Angel, We knew they were talking about us (Katie and I) by the words they were using then Angel asked us if we wanted to know him to which we obviously said no... The guy wouldn't take the hint which started to worry us but Angel managed to get him to leave us alone. Soon after we decided to call it a night and head to bed which was much needed.

Tuesday

Tuesday saw me get up late and feel a little worse for wear. Katie was her normal cheery morning self, honestly, I don't know how she does it but I could definitely learn a thing or two from her haha. Because I got up later we decided to go to Apache for breakfast which was a little bar right on the corner next to our hotel, it's a lovely place with one side for "English" customers and the other for Spanish locals. We met a really nice bar tender who was always cheery when we walked in, we decided to order two big breakfasts and some fruit juice to set us up for the day. After sitting around for a while just enjoying the sun we decided to go to the little supermarket to pick up some water for the room so we could drink that at night minimising the chance of a hangover! it was a really smart move on my part because it meant I didn't feel as bad. On our way up to the supermarket I spotted the creepy guy from the night before, sitting at a table having a drink and a smoke, his drink wasn't even near finished, not by a long shot and as we walked past I looked at him and he gave me a creepy smile, I felt so uneasy and told Katie, we didn't have a good feeling about it at all and sure enough 2 seconds later he came walking out the place, in the same clothes as the night before and followed us! We ended up jumping into the shop and heading right up to the back, keeping an eye on the outside. We saw him walk past which was good but we hung around for a few minutes, bought our water and headed back to the hotel. It was a really weird experience to say the least and I just wanted to avoid him at all costs from then on in. After getting back to the hotel Katie messaged Angel to let him know what happened, he was really nice about the whole experience and even offered to take us around the shops so we felt safe. After that happened we decided to just laze about and get ready for the night ahead because Angel was coming to pick us up and take us to Es Vedra to watch the sunset. As he was picking us up about 5ish we had to get ready a little earlier but we managed it and were only late by 5 minutes haha.

It was a little bit of a drive, maybe half an hour to 40 minutes but let me tell you, it was well worth it! Once there we had to walk up a dirt path which isn't fun in sandals but we done it. We got to the area where you watch the sunset and I can definitely speak for both of us when I say it was breath taking, the whole place was like something from a movie. There weren't a lot of people there which was nice and everyone who was there seemed really chilled, there was a woman who came an made mojito cocktails for people which I thought was pretty cool, there were also a bunch of kittens who came out from under a bush to be fed by some of the people there and there was an adequate amount of puppers, I was very happy. We watched the sunset with Malibu and coke in hand, it was beautiful, it's one of those experiences I will never forget, it was pure magic to say the least. After the sun went down and everyone was starting to leave we headed back to grannies in Es Cana where we had a fab night! We played pool, had some drinks and I think it was a really lovely chilled night to say the least. At the end of the night I went to a little beach place and watched the stars.... It was magical, truly one of the best experiences ever and I really can't wait to go back.

So that's it for part one. I wanted to do this in two parts because we done a lot and I don;t want to skimp on the details, I want to be able to fit it alllllll in! I want to share our experience with you because what an experience it was.

Check back in next Sunday for the second instalment from our week in Ibiza and even more pictures from our time away. Below I have added in some extras from the days I have told you about.
