#MeetTheBeauties ││ NapTime Natter

Hey Everyone and welcome to this weeks installment of #MeetTheBeauties. Today is all about Wendy from NapTime Natter.

1: Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hi! I'm Wendy, I'm 25 and I love being a stay at home Mum to my boy
Leo. I am a pretty shy person and can be quiet around new people but
once you get to know me you will quickly learn I am not quiet at all! I
am a daydreamer, have an over active imagination and have always been a
bit of a creative soul.
2: What is your blog name and how did you come up with it?

My blog is called Naptime Natter. This name came about as it was
during one of Leo's afternoon naps that I decided to start a blog. I
wanted my blog to be a way for me to connect with other mums while I was
trapped in the house while Leo slept for at least 2 hours every day.
Always a sucker for a bit of alliteration and wanting to show my readers
I am always up for a chat, the name 'Naptime Natter' was created.

3: How long have you been blogging?

I started my blog in March 2015 so about 16 months. I have surprised
myself that I have managed to stick at it for this long, I really
thought it would fizzle out after a few months but, if you a blogger you
will know, this whole blogging thing is pretty addictive.

4: Who/What Inspired you to start a blog?

My son inspired me to start my blog as I wanted to document all the
things we do together as a family as well as his development. As I said
before, I also started blogging as I wanted a way to connect with other
parents and find people to chat to about the struggles that appear once
you have kids. Writing has always been something I have enjoyed and
after leaving university I had hardly written a word. Blogging seemed
like the perfect way to embrace my love of writing and meet new people
all at the same time.

5: Do you have a tip you can share for new bloggers?

Hmm, there are so many things I had wished I had known when I started
my blog it is hard to choose just one. I think my best bit of advice for
new bloggers would be to not worry too much about finding a niche. I
know this contradicts the thoughts of so many other bloggers but in my
experience trying to stick to one topic can be so difficult, especially
if there are lots of things you want to write about. I think you are
your own niche, no one else is living your life, experiencing things
from your perspective or has your past. Be honest and keep your voice
authentic and if you a parent blogger who fancies adding in a recipe or
a serious post about politics every once in a while then just do it,
your blog is your place to write about whatever you want.

6: Tell us a random fact about yourself.

I have a completely irrational fear of birds. I don't know how or why
this phobia started but I freak out if a bird comes anywhere near me,
not good when you have a toddler who loves feeding the ducks!

7: Is there anything you know now that you wish you knew when you started blogging?

Yes, so much stuff! I wish I had appreciated how important social
media is when it comes to growing your blog. When I first started out I
genuinely thought if I just sat and wrote something people would
magically know about it and pop over for a read, how wrong was I. I now
know that if you want people to read your blog you have to promote your
posts until you are blue in the face. It is the part of blogging I
dislike the most but it definitely a necessity.

8: Describe your perfect Night in.

My perfect night in would be a night curled up on the sofa with Oli,
watching a really good film. We would order in a pizza and once that was
polished off we would sit and eat our body weight in chocolate while Oli
enjoyed some vino and I had a few gins (when not pregnant obviously!).
Small things like this make me very happy, after a busy day doing the
Mum thing there is not much more I would want to do in the evenings

9: Looking back, Do you have a faviourite post/topic that you have talked about?

Ohh this is a hard question. I have loved blogging about my pregnancy
and family days out but it is the posts about being a parent I enjoy
writing the most. It is hard to choose just one but I really enjoyed
writing 'The thing all parent's talk about'
http://naptimenatter.com/parenting/the-thing-all-parents-talk-about/ ,
it was fun to write and loads of people seemed to relate with what I had
to say which is always fab.
