A woman is only successful if she wears make-up

On Thursday 26th January there was a debate/discussion on ITV's This Morning. The discussion was called  "Can a woman be successful without wearing make-up"
I have included a clip of this below;

After dropping Leon off at nursery I came home, made a cuppa and proceeded to watch morning television on ITV as I normally do on my days "off", the days where there's no work, everything's done and I actually have some free time. I was excited to watch This Morning because it's the morning after the NTA'S and last year it was hilarious! Holly and Phillip were hungover and it was a really good show. But this one? This one left me filled with rage at their discussion on women not being successful if they don't wear make up.....

I took to twitter to express my frustration and looked through the #Thismorning hashtag to find my blood boiling even more. Some of the comments made really got on my wick and I was disgusted at some people's responses to this discussion.

A woman, no matter what she has on her face should not be judged in her talents, skills and abilities. The thought that if I have a degree and go for an interview, make up free vs someone who has high-school qualification and has her face done up and they will be the one to get hired simply because I didn't stick some foundation on really riles me up. I am confident and happy within myself to not wear make up. I am happy and confident within myself to wear make up. I do both, I have make up free time and I have make up time, but just because I have added some Contour to my face and some lippy doesn't automatically mean I'm going to be better at a job......

There are lots of other ways to take pride in your appearance OTHER than wearing make up. I was disgusted to hear that ...... wouldn't employ someone if they didn't wear make up. Where is the logic? Why does wearing make up automatically define your success? IT DOESN'T. It really, really doesn't make you less successful if you have no make up on in the work place.

Would they hire a man who doesn't wear makeup..... I mean... would they? Going by the logic they must only hire men who wear make up because why would they only hire women who wear make up? Oh that's right, double bloody standards. A man is judged on his abilities and his skills within the work place, he's judged on how good he is at his job, not wither or not he's wearing a bloody mac lipstick with some Urban decay foundation and benefit mascara.... so why should women be judged on this rather than how good they are at their job.

This topic really hit a nerve with me. A woman should be wearing make up for herself, not because her employer makes her or she fears she will loose her job if she doesn't get that face on first thing in the morning. By no means am I having a go at those who wear make up, that's not the point. I wear make up, I love doing my make up! But I sure as hell wouldn't be doing it for my boss so they would actually take me serious in my career.

What's your thoughts on the matter?

My Netflix Addiction

So my other half has been paying for Netflix for quite a while now but we haven't used it really, apart from when I went on a binge of Orange is The New Black when the new season came out and I spent 2 days vegetating and obsessing over the whole thing, but that's been it. After he talked about canceling it we decided to leave it one more month to see if we would actually watch anything on it and sure enough, I'm completely addicted to the TV shows on it. Now that's what today's post is all about, my addiction to Netflix tv shows!

Life Update

In my Unlimite list of blog post ideas post, I mentioned that I had been lacking  inspiration lately and that all I have on my mind is my health and mentioned that I would probably do a post about it..... so here I am, this is my little "Life update"

As much as I post online and do talk about personal things, I'm also very private. There is a lot that I don't and won't post about but today I'm going to open up a little, as much as I can anyway about things that have been going on lately that have caused me to get stuck in a bit of a blogging rut.

NO MUM, ME DO IT

Ahhhh, the sound of my child pulling every single plastic cup out the cupboard till he finds his favourite one because he wants to make "magic juice" (orange diluting juice) all by him self. We have reached the "Me do it" stage and if I'm honest, it's not what I thought it would be at all!

Kissmass with Sensodyne

I have suffered with sensitive teeth for as long as I can remember! I've always watched my friends digging into ice lollies or anything cold, wishing I could do the same! But the fear of getting an excruciating pain through my teeth has always kept me from enjoying some cold treats. It's not just cold foods or drinks though that get to me, it's hot foods as well, like hot chocolate, tea, coffee, any kind of hot drink, although it's not as bad as the cold treats, it does still bug me. So with it just being the christmas season and new year, well, all the treats were out in force! So as you can imagine I was wondering what I could eat without having to go through the agony that is having sensitive teeth.

Ultimate list of blog post ideas

Blogging inspiration is sometimes in short supply, especially when my health is at an all time low and all I want to do is blog about my health and how crappy I feel and trust me, no one wants to read about that! (I'll probably do a little post on soon though because it's bugging me out) But lately I have been trying to find some inspiration for blog posts when I'm down in the dumps so I go through things that make me happy etc... But it got me to thinking, I'm not the only one who goes through this right? So I thought what the hell, why not do a post on some blog ideas that can help some others out in finding inspiration.

Diary of a Young carer; Entry 1

I found my diaries that I kept when I was around 11/12 onwards and reading it brought me to tears, So much happened that I forgot about, events and experiences that I shouldn't have went through at all, but most of all I'm sad to look back and remember just how bad things could get for my mum.

My world, my light, my life.

Most days I wish I had a mute button for my child, in fact, I wish I had a remote with a whole load of commands on it because some times (most of the time) my child is a screaming nut who never gives it a rest. My child moans about everything.... ABSOLUTELY everything and I just want to put my finger on his lips and shout "shhhhhhhh"

JUST a mum

You're JUST A MUM? Well what else do you do? You stay home all day?

These are questions that reallllyyyy grind my gears.... Why do people think it is acceptable to ask anyone these thing? It's none of their business!
