#MeetTheBeauties ││Ohkay-Dohkay

Hello Lovelies and welcome to this week's installment of #MeetTheBeauties. Today is all about Ohkay-dohkay

1: Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Kay, I’m 26 years old and I live in the Rhondda Valley in South Wales. I work in PR, I have a degree in history and in my spare time I’m a political activist. I love politics, history, reading and currently I’m writing a novel.

I blog over at www.ohkay-dohkay.com and I guess I would categories my blog as mainly lifestyle but a little bit of politics thrown in.

2: What is your blog name and how did you come up with it?

My blog is OhKay-DohKay and essentially it comes from my name. My real name is Kaiesha (pronounced Kay-sha) and when I was university my friends used to call me Kay. It was easier than people trying to pronounce my real name. I was never called it growing up but it’s been such a long time now I can’t remember not being called it. When I named my blog I knew that I wanted it to be related to my name and after several failed attempts, OhKay-DohKay was born.

3; How long have you been blogging?

It’s been over three years since I started OhKay-DohKay but I had a number of different blogs before this one.

4: Who and what inspired you to start a blog?

I’m not sure really because I created my first blog a long time ago now. However around the time I started OhKay-DohKay I know that I had been watching Youtube video’s. I think I saw the channels of people like Zoella, Dottie James and decided that I wanted to restart blogging. I’ve always loved writing and being creative, so I guess that’s what inspired me.

5: Do you have any tips you could share for other bloggers?

There have so many things that I wish I’d have known when I started a blog so those things are the tips I would give.

1. It’s hard work.
2. Scheduling is your best friend. Both posts and social media updates.
3. Don’t do it for money or freebies, do it because it’s something you enjoy.

6: Tell us a random fact about yourself.

When I was 10 years old I was lucky enough to meet the Spice Girls. I can still remember how excited I was, we went to their show and saw them backstage. It was incredible but something funny happened too. I decided to wear a black tshirt which had “Posh Spice” across the front of it. The backstage passes were stickers that had to be worn where you can see them. Initially I put mine on my t-shirt but I later realised that it needed to be on my coat where it could be seen. So we took it off, removing the “P” in the process. I had to meet Victoria Beckham with the words “OSH SPICE” across my chest. Sigh.

7: How do you find inspiration for your posts?

I honestly get my inspiration from anywhere and everywhere and there’s no set time or place. I guess primarily I get my idea’s from magazines, other blog posts and news articles that I see floating around.

8: Describe your Dream Holiday;

I love this question and I am someone that really enjoys travelling. For me a holiday is about seeing different countries in their truest since, learning about their culture and history. I am in love with Europe and I love nothing more than visiting its beautiful cities. I think this partly comes from my love of WWII history. So my dream holiday would be a weekend getting lost and exploring a city.

9: Out of everything you have blogged about so far, do you have a favourite post?

This is such a good question because it really got me thinking about previous posts I’ve written. I couldn’t pick one but I have narrowed it to down to three.

- Politics the basics – During the 2015 general election I wrote a series of blog posts attempting to help educate people about the political system in the UK. It’s one of the key reasons why I started blogging in the first place. It took a lot of time, effort and confidence to write these posts, so I was really proud when I published them.

- The Madela Effect. – I’ve always been fascinated by conspiracy theories and it is something that I’ve always wanted to write about. This was such a hard post to write but I got there, I loved it and it went down well with my readers.

- 10 reasons to watch Audrie and Daisy – I love writing about important topics on my blog and talking about current affairs is a priority of mine. I watched this heart wrenching documentary and it left me feeling both angered and inspired.
