1: Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Holly, I’m a 22-year-old disability and lifestyle blogger. I was born at 24 weeks, so I developed a visual impairment called Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), this means that I can only see light and dark so I have no useful vision. However, I don’t let my visual impairment stop me in life and don’t let it stop me from getting to where I want to be. I went through mainstream education and graduated university last year with a 2:1 in Children, Young People and Families.

I have a passion for beauty, fashion, reading and all the girly stuff. I also love going to concerts (I probably go to way too many!)

2: How did you come up with your Blog name?

My blog is called ‘Life of a Blind Girl’, I came up with my blog name because I wanted to share my experiences of living with a visual impairment, tackle the common misconceptions surrounding sight loss/disability, educate others on this topic and help others.

It did take me a while to come up with my blog name, but I’m really happy with it and think it represents me and my blog. I can’t really remember how I came up with my blog name, I think I just played around with various ideas for a while and eventually came up with one that I liked.

3: How long have you been blogging?

I have been blogging for 3 and a half years, it’s crazy to think that it has been that long because it really doesn’t feel like it. I never thought that my blog would really go anywhere, for me it was just my little corner of the internet, I didn’t even think people would read my posts. Blogging has given me some amazing opportunities and allowed me to meet some of my closest friends.

4: Who/What Inspired you to start a blog?

When I started blogging, I didn’t really know of any disabled bloggers, I started my blog in order to share my experiences of living with a visual impairment, tackle common misconceptions surrounding disability, educate others and help people who may need it.

5: What's one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting?

One piece of advice that I would give to someone just starting blogging is to be your true self. You can really tell when a person is being true to themselves when reading their blog posts, if they are passionate about the subject that they are discussing then it really shines through.

6: Tell us a random fact about yourself?

I absolutely love pop music.

7: Is there anything you know now that you wish you knew before you started blogging?

I wish I knew that engaging with other bloggers is vital, it not only means that you can grow your blog, it also means that you can connect with others and make new friends, share the love on their posts and just be part of such a supportive community.

8: Describe your perfect Night in.

My perfect night in would be with my closest friends, having a takeaway (preferably pizza), having a good catch up and a good giggle, and maybe watching a couple of films.

9: Looking back, what's your favourite blog post to date?

My favourite blog post to date is definitely my post on the Common Misconceptions on Blindness, it’s my most popular post but it’s also the post that I’m most proud of. As I said, I try to tackle societies perceptions surrounding visual impairment and disability and I feel like that post really does that.

10: What are your links, where can we find you?
