Review | Lush Herbalism Cleanser

Lately my skin has been in such horrible condition, I've been trying all sorts of products to help me rid my skin of blemishes and spots. Nothing seemed to cut it really, some products made my skin worse so I decided to pop into Lush and see what they had to offer.

I was in Glasgow with my bestie when we took a visit to Lush, I asked about some products and told then my skin concerns. The woman who was helping was so friendly and her choice of product recommendations were on point! I was only picking one thing up that day and decided to go for Grease lightening which is a spot treatment but the woman gave me a sample of Herbalism to try. For the next few days I was using Herbalism to cleanse my face and after only using it for a short amount of time, I noticed a bit of a difference in my skin. The texture wasn't as rough and I noticed that my blemishes were less red. The next week I was in Glasgow city centre again so popped into Lush to purchase a full sized tub and I am SO glad that I did.

It's been a while since I done a Lush review, my last one was the Lush Bom Perignon Bath Bomb from way back in October 2016! I have really missed doing Lush reviews as I am a HUGE fan of their products so I am really happy to be dabbling in them again. When I really love a product, I enjoy writing about it and Herbalism is a product that has been my obsession lately.

Before we go any further, here's what Lush has to say:

"Nettles, rosemary and rice bran vinegar work to cleanse the skin, removing dirt and grease, leaving bright and beautifully clean skin. Chamomile blue oil and rose absolute are used for balancing skin tone. Rice bran and ground almonds will gently exfoliate the skin and when mixed with water, the almonds create a soft cleansing milk. Our chlorophyllin is extracted from alfalfa, which is rich in vitamins and minerals and is great for revitalising the skin."

If you're in the market for a cleanser that will help even out your skin texture and brighten you up a little then this is the one for you. It's genuinely the best face cleanser I have used in a while. I have found that you don't need to use a lot of it either to cleans your face, I just use a little bit every morning and night, and this does my whole face and neck. To use it you have to get it wet first so I wet my face then wet the cleanser, then rub it over my face. I spend a good minute working it into my skin, really making sure that my face is fully cleansed. It's a little weird getting used to the cleanser at first because it is in a solid state before you wet it but eventually you get used to it. The only downfall, and it's a small one, is the fact it seems to go everywhere if I don't wet it right as parts break off and it can leave the sink looking like I'm peeling the hulk apart haha.

Herbalisim isn't just a face cleanser, it doubles as a cleanser for your body but I only use it on my face, if I used it on my body I would go through far too much of it and at the price, I'll stick to using it solely on my face thanks! I really love how this acts as an exfoliate as well, it's very gentle on the skin that you almost forget you're exfoliating at the same time, it's perfect for anyone who isn't a fan of the rough cleansers that provides exfoliation as well, sometimes they can be harsh on your skin so this is a nice alternative.

So does this smell nice? Personally, i'm not fussed either way by the scent. My gran likes it, Stephen hates it and little bear doesn't smell anything he says so it's probably hit or miss. I like that it's not got the strongest smell compared to a few other Lush products but for anyone who is really picky about their scents, maybe go in store and give it a smell before you commit to buying.

There are lots of awesome ingredients in this cleanser, I think that's why it works so well with my skin, they have all been combined to make this great product to help you balance your skin.

Ground Almonds - Kaolin  - Glycerine - Chlorophyllin Water - Nettle, Rosemary and Rice Vinegar Extract - Rice Bran - Gardenia Extract - Rose Absolute - Chamomile Blue Oil - Sage Oil - Perfume

Overall, I am so in love with with cleanser! I was not expecting to like it this much but it's done wonders for my skin which I am thankful for. I would recommend this for anyone, who, like me, who has combination skin and some problem areas. I had some blemishes on the side of my face and really angry looking spots but now they have died down and I feel the confidence coming back.

  4. Glad you found something that’s helped! My skin is terrible at the moment, I think house/moving stress is probably the cause, but I’ve had loads of spots randomly pop up along my jaw, and for some reason my back!? From what you’ve said I think I’ll pop into Lush and give this a go!
