5 ways to get in the Halloween Spirit

Is anyone else absolutely obsessed with Halloween, or is it just me?

I am such a huge fan of this time of year, the leaves, the colours, the scents and so much more but what I REALLY love, is the fact it's Halloween time, all the shops start filling the shelves with spooky decorations, totally terrifying costumes and sinfully delicious sweets. The horror movies come out, the nail biting reads take over and the horror games get some extra love. I honestly can't think of a better time of year for me, I know just how I get into the spirit of halloween because I've been doing it so long that it comes naturally to me.

But what if I'm not into halloween that much? I hear you ask (or something along those lines, I'm not a mind reader! haha) Well, if you're just not in that halloween mood yet, my post is the one for you. I have put together 5 different ways to get yourself into the mood for all the haunts and treats this year.

1: Binge on Scary Movies

There's nothing I love more than a good horror movie. That feeling of "what's going to happen" sends my stomach into knots but I like it. Horror is my favourite film genre any time of the year but October sees me watching ONLY horror or thriller (or gore) movies to really get me in that spine tingling mood. It's a fab way to get prepped for Halloween I think so here are some of my recommendations for you - Horror Month: What I'm Watching

2: Bake some spooky treats

Got a sweet tooth? Then maybe making some extra spooky treats this year would be a good way to get in the mood. I've got a whole Pinterest folder dedicated to Halloween treats to make with little bear this year so if you're stuck for ideas, hop on over to Pinterest as you'll certainly get LOTS of inspiration.

3: Carve some Pumpkins

Anyone else LOVE to carve pumpkins? Making funny faces on them or going super detailed with a whole art piece on your pumpkin is really fun to do and in a way, I find it therapeutic. It's a good way to get in the Halloween Spirit, especially of you've got a grump in your home, much like my gran who hates how enthused I am about Halloween and all it entails. Normally when I whip the pumpkins out she comes round, we all have fun sitting at the table, doing our own thing and carving pumpkins. After this activity, my gran gets excited and then gets in the spirit.

4: Decorate the house

Decorating the house is a perfect way to get ready for Halloween. Much like Christmas, it adds the whole essence to your house and after that you'll be sure to be in the spirit of Halloween. Why not go all out this year and really out do anything you've ever done? Make it looks extra creepy and share some photos with me because you know... I'm nosy haha

5: Read a nail biting Book

If you're more of a reader than a film watcher, why not grab a gripping horror book to get you going. I'm not a huge reader, I used to be, but I don't make enough time for it anymore. If I did make enough time, I would be curled up with some hot chocolate and getting lost in a horror/thriller book to get me in the Halloween mood. There's a book I've got that was my mum's and it's filled with about 40 short stories, all which have a horror or thriller feel to them. It's quite an old book and for the life of me I can't remember the name of it (it's somewhere in our storage boxes, I'll have to dig it out) but it's a fab book for this time of year.
