Winter Skincare Routine | Updated

With winter well underway and my skin feeling better than ever plus looking the best it has in years, I thought it only fitting to share my updated winter skincare routine.

Before we go any further, I just want to note that I was kindly gifted the Tropic Skincare products and Dermalogica products, but I am under no obligation to post about the products and all thoughts and opinions stated are 100% my own.

Finding products that work with my skin can feel daunting because it feels like my skin is changing constantly and products that once worked, started to break me out or dried up my skin so I feel like I always have to be on the lookout for products that are going to work.

I have combination skin, it's dry to normal but in the summer it's oily to normal so I have to change up my routines with the seasons. Now, I'll be the first to say I am no expert in skincare, I've never claimed to be, but I am trying to learn but most importantly I'm trying to find combinations of products that are going to help my skin look and feel amazing.

Before I dive into my routine, it's worth noting I have 3 different ones for the week, my morning, evening and Sunday/pamper day routines. I'll explain more in each section but thought it was worth noting. Anyway, without further ado, let's get into my current winter skincare routine.

Morning Routine

In the mornings I like to use lightweight products, I find my makeup tends to sit better, it lasts longer, and I don't feel my skin drying out as much anymore.

I start by using the Dermalogica Cleansing gel to wash my face then pat dry. I will then use the Body shop vitamin E toner followed by the Superdrug under eye brightening cream and with my ring finger I pat the cream in.

After this I will use the Dermalogica moisturiser, making sure I get all areas of my face and a little bit goes a long way, then I will wait a couple of minutes before using the Tropic Rainforest dew hydration serum and that's my face in the mornings, done.

Night Time Routine

At night my routine gets a bit more in depth, because I would normally have make up on, I start with around 3-4 pumps of the Tropic smoothing Cleanser, I make sure to work it into my skin so that I can really break up the make up for a proper cleanse.

I will then use the bamboo cloth to make sure it's all wiped away before going in with the Dermalogica pre cleansing gel then the cleansing gel. Now, this step only happens 3 times a week, twice in the night routine and once on my pamper/Sunday routine; I will use a face mask at this point, I don't use a specific brand, it's more what I can get my hands on but lately it has been the body shop clay mask or rose mask.

After I use a face mask, I will clean it off and then use the body shop Vitamin E toner, followed by the Superdrug Under eye brightening cream followed by the body shop Vitamin E overnight serum. After 5 minutes I use the Tropic Rainforest dew hydration serum and then I go in with the Dermalogica nightly lip treatment.

Pamper/Sunday Routine

When it comes to my pamper day I like to really indulge, it's a day for me to feel good and when I feel like my skin is clean and glowing, I feel a little better.

I start off by cleansing my face with the Tropic smoothing Cleanser wither I have been wearing makeup or not. I will then use the Tropic exfoliator, making sure I'm gentle on my skin. At this point I will then use a face mask, I will always try to use a clay one on this day to help with impurities.

Once I have used a clay mask, I will maybe stick on a hydrating sheet mask for 5 minutes if I have any laying around. After the sheet mask I will then leave my face for 5 to 10 minutes to soak up the serum from the sheet mask after I massage it into my face and neck. Once I feel like my skin has absorbed some of the serum from the sheet mask, I will use the body shop Vitamin E toner, then if I have any in my face mask box, I'll use an eye mask. After the eye mask I use the Superdrug under eye brightening cream followed by the body shop Vitamin E overnight mask.

*Side Note - When I wrote this post, I was just running out of the Superdrug under eye cream and luckily I was gifted the Dermalogica Biolumin-c eye serum which I have been using for over a week now which is AMAZING. Honestly, the difference I seen after 4 days was just jaw dropping, my under eyes are no longer sort of dark, they are the same colour as the rest of my face which if you know me, hasn't been something I have been able to say since my son was born haha.

And that is my updated winter skincare routine. All these products seem to be working wonders, my skin hasn't looked this clear in so long! I am very happy with how it is all working with my skin.

  1. I love that Tropic is now firmly in your routine! It's great isn't it? If you get the chance the fruit peel is amazing - and doesn't burn the skin, like I was worried it would with the word 'peel' in it!

I haven't tried the rest of the products you mentioned, but given how well they are doing for you I think I really should!

Sadly I have the horror of combo skin too... sometimes it manages to be both oily, and dry, and I have no idea how it manages it haha

    1. I absolutely live Tropic! Their stiff us fabulous. I'll have to keep that in mind! Thanks for the recommendation :)

  2. I feel like my skin is just oily, oily, oily :') However, I don't want to complain too much because apparently having that much oil production means I won't age as early... not sure if that's completely accurate tho haha? The one thing I want to focus more on in 2020 is my undereye area. I've just hit my 20s & I feel like I can't afford to waste anymore time on NOT taking care of them well. Especially since I have fine lines and dark circles so far :/ I totally need to look into some of the products that you've mentioned here xx

    1. Ooo! I am intrigued to see if that is true Haha because in spring and summer I have very oily skin!

  3. I am so inlove with Body Shop's Hydrating Tone. I have been using it for a few months and it is so amazing on my skin.

  4. I need to buy some new under-eye masks so, I’ll be trying these ones I think!
