My Top 10 Favourite Movies to Watch at Christmas

Christmas is such a magical time of year. It’s filled with joy and love all around which makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.

With happiness in the air and the sense of wonder, it makes it feel extremely special.

One of my favourite things to do when Christmas time rolls around is get cosy watching some feel good movies with a hot chocolate in hand under a blanket.

My 10 Favourite Movies to Watch at Christmas

As someone who is film obsessed, it’s only natural that I gravitate to movies at any time of the year, but something about winter and Christmas makes it feel extra magical.

So, today I wanted to share my top 10 picks of Christmas movies that I watch every year now to get me in the festive mood.

The Grinch

The Grinch is a firm Favourite in my house as all of us enjoy it. We get excited when December rolls around and we start watching movies because we know this will be one of the first we cuddle up to.

Everything about the Jim Carry one fills me with happiness and always manages to hit me right in the feels.

Home Alone

Such a classic festive movie that never fails to get me in the mood for Christmas.

Every year we have a Home Alone marathon where we cuddle up in the living room and watch the 1st and 2nd movie. Now that Little bear is older, he absolutely loves watching the antics that Kevin gets up to when left alone.

Elf

Elf is a bit of a hit and miss in my house. I just love watching this movie but my other half hates it to no end.

So, this is one of the movies Little bear and I watch ourselves because both of us enjoy all the Elf entails. It’s such a feel good movie filled with the magic of Christmas. Plus, I love the whole story of Buddy the Elf.

Deck the Halls

As a huge fan of Danny DeVito, this movie never fails to put a smile on my face. It’s filled with actors that make it such a fabulous watch like Kristin Chenoweth, Matthew Broderick, Kristin Davis and so many more.

Deck the Halls will always be one of my favourite Christmas movies because it’s filled with fun and playfulness.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

One of my absolutely favourite movies of all time, not just at Christmas. The Nightmare Before Christmas holds a special place in my heart because I adore the whole movie from the Halloween theme to the music, it has everything I love.

Such a classic movie that will always be watched every October and December in our house.

Arthur Christmas

I love watching Arthur Christmas with Little bear in the run up to Christmas. This is another movie that just him and I enjoy, so we like to cuddle up in bed with hot chocolate and enjoy the feature.

It always puts a smile on my face watching LB so engrossed.

Love Actually

It wasn’t until a few years ago that I began to properly enjoy Love Actually, but now I can’t do December without it.

I’m not sure what changed my mind on it, but my gran had it on in the living room and I was glued to the screen. We both ended up watching away as Little bear was at his other grans house so it was a nice bit of bonding time.

Now my gran and I watch it together every year.

The Santa Clause

The Santa Clause has been a firm favourite of mine since I was a child. I remember believing it was the actual real story of Santa and how it worked.

It’s a great movie filled with festive magic and all the makings of a perfect Christmas movie. Plus, Tim Allen is fabulous in it.

For any fans of The Santa Clause movies, you might be excited to hear that Disney+ has a new series coming on 16th November. It’s called The Santa Clauses and Tim Allen has reprised his role! Definitely recommend watching the trailer.

Gremlins

Now this isn’t the first movie you think about when it comes to Christmas is it?

But, Gremlins has always been a festive movie in our house and we love watching it around the beginning of December.

I think what I love about it the most is it has the makings of a (tame) scary movie and it’s set at Christmas time. Perfect!

Krampus

Last on my list but definitely not least, is Krampus.

As a horror movie lover but also a big fan of anything festive, Krampus delivers it all. Now this isn’t a family movie night watch, but one my other half and I can enjoy together. We like to settle in after Little bear has gone to bed and enjoy the festive filled horror.
