New Year, New Baby, New Priorities

New Year, New Baby, New Priorities
Well, it’s been a hot minute since I last posted on the blog huh?
I didn’t intend to take as long a break as I did but life sort of guided me to this point.
As much as I’ve been chomping at the bit to be active here and sort the blog out, I needed the time away to focus on my health and growing a human.
Life has thrown a lot my way these past 7/8 months, but finally there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I’ve got new priorities on my mind and looking forward to hitting the ground running with this new year.
So, before I jump back into regular posting, I thought that a life update to round up what’s been happening is in order.
New Year, New Baby, New Priorities

Picking up where I left off
My last life update left off with me being worried the tumours in my neck were lymphoma and being plagued by worry.
I’m happy to say that the tumours are benign but they have no idea what they are.
Because I was pregnant they couldn’t do much about them or any more investigating, but now that the baby has been born things are moving again.
The next steps are more scans of the area and some more biopsies before they think about surgery.
Health complications and other issues
I thought that the tumours were the worst 2023 had on the cards for me, but that wasn’t the case.
Things went from bad to worse after I got the all clear on the tumour front.
Just a week later I was in hospital for an obstetrics appointment as my pregnancy was high risk and I ended up being kept in.
That was the start of the health issues and from there it spiralled.
I ended up being put on bed rest and was in and out of the hospital right up until I was taken in for a c-section.
This caused me to take a break from blogging way sooner than I had intended.
Because of the baby I had planned to take all of December off, but with everything that was going on it just made sense to put it on the back burner so I could focus on staying as healthy as possible.
During my pregnancy I racked up some amount of diagnosis from carpal tunnel to an enlarged heart and everything in-between, I had it all.
There was a running joke between my friends and I that if I collected any more diagnosis then I’d need a NHS loyalty card, 9 diagnosis and get the 10th free haha!

New Baby Arrives
Thankfully I managed to get to my c-section date without having to have an emergency one which was a worry both I and my obstetrician had.
With so many health complications, we really thought that things might go very differently but that wasn’t the case and I’m very grateful for that.
On the 13th December at 9:52, Baby Bear was born by planned c-section and all went according to plan.
I won’t go into too much detail here as I’m planning on writing about my experience in a separate post, but I will say this, the whole experience was miles different from giving birth 10 years ago.
I’m absolutely besotted with my little guy and very very thankful that he’s perfectly healthy, especially after everything I went through.
Adjusting to a new way of life
Now that he’s here, I’m adjusting to a new way of life, we all are, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I think I’m still in the magical new baby bubble because I still feel like I’m on cloud nine.
Everything is wonderful to me and we’ve settled into a nice routine which has made the experience even better.
As I know this is my last child, I’m soaking up every moment with him and relishing in it. I’m also loving watching Little bear settle into his role as big brother.
Seeing him so in love with his little brother melts my heart because I just know how much he loves him and loves his new role as the oldest.
I was worried that once baby bear was here that life would be vastly different, so much so I may feel like this life isn’t meant for me or that I would experience post natal depression, but thankfully that’s not the case.
However, these past few weeks have seen me reevaluate my life and priorities in a way I’ve never done before.
I’ve got new priorities in my life now and I’m all the better for it.

New Priorities
Having my second child and going through as many health complications as I have these past 7/8 months has made me confront my life in a way I never have before.
It’s made me look at every aspect of life and forced me to make changes, changes that were long overdue.
I don’t think I’ve been in the right headspace for years, not since 2019 if I’m being brutally honest.
After the trauma of another miscarriage in the summer of 2019 and nearly dying due to so much blood loss which meant I had to go for a D&C as well as another surgery, I shut down.
Since then I haven’t quite been myself and with each year that passed it got worse.
With time I ended up a shell of myself, cut off from friends and really lacking in any self motivation.
Looking back now with a whole new perspective, I can see where things went downhill and where I let myself go.
Thankfully the fog has lifted so to speak which is allowing me to look at life with a new perspective and figure out my new priorities.
A New Focus
Going forward I have a whole new outlook on life and a new set of priorities.
My kids and health are what’s most important to me, and I need to nourish those areas, always keeping them at the forefront of my mind.
I’m more determined now to make sure I work hard and live the life I’ve always dreamed of, full of memories and experiences, healthy and happy.
That means taking my health as seriously as I can, so I’m going to fight for better care and more tests because I know within myself there’s more to my “diagnoses” than meets the eye.

A New Year
With this new year I’m viewing it as a new start, a fresh slate on which anything is possible.
I’ve written up a plan in a journal that outlines exactly what I want to accomplish, how I want to spend my time effectively and the reasons.
I hope this will keep me motivated with my new proprieties and allow me to document my progress as I go and help me stay on track.
Part of this includes doing more with my blog and potentially taking it in a new direction possibly.
One thing is for sure on the blog front though, there will be a design change to bring it more up to date and give it the refresh that it deserves.
