Picnics are a fabulous way to spend quality time with your family and friends.

The good food, the laughs and the memories made, picnics just scream summer fun don’t they?

I have many fond memories of picnics over the years and always enjoy spending that quality time with loved ones.

So, here’s a simple guide to help you plan the perfect picnic for summer and make those memories extra special.

When planning your picnic it’s important to choose the perfect location.

The right spot can make all the difference in your overall experience and really set the scene for the day.

Look for a place with plenty of shade to keep cool on hot days, and make sure there’s enough space to spread out comfortably.

Parks with picnic tables, beaches with calm waves, or even a picturesque countryside setting can all be excellent choices.

I personally find places that aren’t too crowded the best choice as there’s no interruptions and you don’t have to worry about finding a spot.

A picnic wouldn’t be complete without delicious food would it?

So, grab your picnic basket and get creative with your food.

You’ll want to curate a delicious and easy to prepare menu that leaves lasting memories.

Finger foods are an ideal choice for picnics because they’re simple to eat and require minimal utensils.

Sandwiches, wraps, fresh salads, and an assortment of cheeses and crackers never go a miss either!

Also, fresh fruits like berries and watermelon can be the perfect refreshing and hydrating extras to pop in the basket.

And don’t forget to pack some sweet treats like cookies or brownies for dessert!

Keep your beverages cool by bringing a cooler bag filled with ice packs if your picnic basket doesn’t have a cooling section.

In terms of drinks, lemonade, iced tea, and infused water can be both tasty and rejuvenating on a hot day.

Make sure that you’re kitted out for your picnic by gathering the essentials.

You’ll need a large, comfortable picnic blanket, so look for one that is waterproof on one side to keep you dry.

Also bring along reusable plates, cups, and cutlery to reduce waste and be environmentally friendly.

You can get picnic basket sets that come with it all to make staying organised easy.

Don’t forget to pack napkins, a mini cutting board, and a knife either for slicing fruits and cheeses.

Little items like this make the experience go much smoother.

Sunscreen, insect repellent, and a first aid kit are also good to have on hand for just incase moments.

Although having a picnic is entertaining in itself and the main activity, think about taking some little activities with you to make the day more memorable.

For entertainment, consider things like a frisbee, a deck of cards, or a portable speaker to play some upbeat tunes.

It’s little things like this that make the day feel more special and helps in creating unforgettable memories.

I’d also suggest taking along a camera or making sure you can take photos on your phone to help you capture special moments from the day.
