My Creative Passions; Sharing a little bit more of Me
Normally I’m not one to share my creative passions, sure I write my blog content and share my blog photos with you all, but do any of you really know about my passion for photography and film making?
I’ve never really shared any of my work on my blog before, mainly out of fear that people will have harsh criticism about it and I’m not quite at that stage where I have a thick skin regarding my passion. I honestly love being creative, I enjoy the process that goes into making a short movie, that’s why I’m at college taking my passion further. I’ve had the idea about sharing some of my work for a while now but never really got around to it. My biggest fear in sharing any of my work is that people will laugh at me, this is something I need to get over and what better time to do it? This year I’m all about taking charge, not letting my fears define me and really pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
I have shared some of my photography before in a blog post but that was very scary to do, I was shaking when I published that post. I love to take photos of nature, flowers mainly and I enjoy landscapes, there’s something about landscape photography that really draws me in, its almost like a time to reflect. I get to go out with my camera on mini adventures, snapping lots of beautiful photos and bask in my own company. When I’m out taking photos I like to sit somewhere for a while and go deep into my mind, it’s almost refreshing in a way to help me blow out the cobwebs and stare a new. There lots of other photography I would like to do and I’m focusing on building my portfolio for portrait work, taking photos of different people really intrigues me. One day I would love to take photos for other creatives and help them build their portfolio as well, that would be a dream! The only thing holding me back at this point is myself so this year I plan on expanding my talents.
I’ve also had the pleasure of working with some absolutely amazing people this past year from directors to editors and each of them inspired me in a different way. I worked on a short film which was created by myself and my good friend Linda, our concept was fun to work on and the two boys who were working with us, Russel and Jack were such a joy to have around. In that short film I was the director alongside Linda, as well as doing camera work and sound. Once we had finished filming my main job roles were data rangler and editor. It was the first short I had ever worked on and I must say, for the resources we had available to us, I’m proud of the finished product.
I also got to work on a film noir trailer with an amazing bunch of lads, Donald who is the master editor, Andy who is not only a fabulous actor but an amazing programmer and Michael who is a boss at sound. Working with them was everything and if I got to work with only them for the rest of my life, I’d be happy! Our film noir trailer centred around P.I Ford (played by Andy) who blacked out due to his excessive alcohol problem and murdered his new partner (P.I Archer) of 3 months in cold blood out of fear of exposure on taking bribes. P.I Ford is on a mission to uncover the truth of that night, oblivious to the fact that he was the one who murdered Archer. Clues are left by a mysterious woman , Isabella Foxx (played by myself) that lead Ford to the truth and ultimately his own death. The whole concept was fun to come up with and we equally had an input, there was no power grab here! I had a go at camera work, acting, editing, sound and directing. It was nice because we all got to have a turn at each thing. Once the trailer is finished I’ll be sure to share it because I’m so very proud of our work.

I was also able to work with another amazing bunch of people for another short film. This time we took part in a 48 hour film festival with the college where we had to create a horror film. We were given a prop, a character and line of dialogue to incorporate into our idea. At first we had a full concept ready to go before we were given these and I really thought it would be an amazing horror to shoot ( if you’ve followed my blog for a while, you’ll know I’m obsessed with horror films!) but sadly the stuff were were to incorporate into the short didn’t work with our idea so we changed it last minute meaning we really did have only 48 hours to make the movie! I don’t want to say too much about this one yet as I do have a full post on this project coming where you can see me acting for a full 5 minutes! EEEKK! I a, a little scared to share this one with you all as I cringe every time I watch my acting but I’m so very great full I had an amazing cast and crew around me.

This was the loveliest post to read and i cannot WAIT to see more creativity from you! You truly are so talented and i'm not just saying that – it's the kind of talent that needs to be harnessed and recognised. I also know firsthand how much creativity has helped my sense of wellbeing, so i hope it can do the same for you :)More people than ever before are opening up about their mental health, sharing their struggles and subsequently seeking support. I hope that, some day, every person with a mental illness can access the treatment they deserve; however, we all know this is easier said than done, so I'm a huge believer in the value of experience. I must stress that I'm not a doctor and, what's more, far from a 'model of recovery'. There's no guarantee that what works for me will work for someone else. However, there's always a chance. If my Silver Linings concept can help just one other person, it's worth sharing.

This was lovely! I also hesistate to share my creative passions with others, the ones that aren’t front and center so I get it. But you’re good and yes, you already stated this but the only person you should be doing it for is you! As long as you enjoy it that’s important. Plus. It would take a really miserable person to see someone having a good time learning and expanding their skills to come, read and watch only to leave hate… and if for any reason someone did hate is still engagement 😉✨
