Halloween is such a magical time, there is a lot I love about this time of year so I thought I would share 10 of them with you all. It's no secret that Autumn/Halloween is my favourite time of year, I've previously posted about the 10 reason I love autumn so if you fancy giving that a read and joining me as I bask in this magical time of year, you're more than welcome.

Anyway, today I really wanted to convey the magic that Halloween brings for me, it's the one time of year where I feel most like me because of the aesthetics, the colours, even the smell of the air... it reminds me of a time I had no cares, where I felt free and powerful so I guess I keep that feeling with me. So, here's 10 things I love about Halloween:

1: Carving Pumpkins

Who doesn't love a good pumpkin carving session? I love going out, picking a pumpkin, or more recently, going to a pumpkin patch like omg total goals as I have always loved them. Taking the pumpkin home, hollowing it out, making yummy soup from the insides and then creating a face on the pumpkin to create a jack-o-lantern! I love pumpkins and their whole aesthetic.

2: Getting to dress up

I do love a good Halloween costume; the best ones are always those that think outside of the box. I love the imagination and creativity that is shown, homemade costumes all blow me away when they are done right plus I love to see all the make-up tutorials that come out, I love all things scary, creepy and downright disturbing, there is something about the horror genre that I adore.

3: Seeing the joy on Little bears face

At Halloween there are lots of decorations, parties and awesome events for children now which just helps to bring the magic alive. I am so lucky my little one loves horror as well, well, horror that is age appropriate for him. He is obsessed with all thing’s zombie relates and always chooses that as his first-choice outfit. He loves to have fun at this time of year, and I try to make it as new, interesting and exciting as I can.

4: Spending time with family

At this time of year, it opens up lots of opportunities to get together with friends and family. There tends to be lots of parties in ours, there are so many kids on Stephens side and they put on quite a show for them all which is really nice. I also love the dark nights where we curl up on the couches and watch horrors once little bear is in bed.

5: Watching Horror films

Watching horror movies is one probably thee number one thing I love to do. I really like getting cosy in bed, turning out all of the lights and trying to frighten myself half to death. I am a sucker for old school horrors like Halloween, Nightmare on Elm street, Bram Stoker's Dracula and more.

6: Reading short horror stories

I have a few books that have a collection of short stories inside. I really enjoy reading these at this time of year because it's just another way to consume some horror.

7: The Halloween content

Because Halloween is my favourite time of year, I really enjoy consuming Halloween related content, I will read blog posts, watch YouTube videos, listen to podcasts and more. I just thrive when I am consuming so much Halloween content.

8: Decorating the house

I love that decorating the house isn't solely a Christmas tradition because it's some I really enjoy doing. I like to theme the house, there are decorations and such for each season, when one ends and a new begins, we take a day to change things around and swap in the seasonal stuff. It's always been like this in my house, throws for certain times of the year, certain colour schemes we follow, right now we are moving into the burnt orange and gold stage.

9: Getting to be creative

I really enjoy all the Halloween crafts, it's great sitting down at the table with Little bear as we create homemade spooky decorations. I am a sucker for Pinterest so I like to keep a board for reference and try re-creating what other people have pulled off well. You can view my Halloween Inspired Pinterest Board Here

10: The overall joy everyone has

Because Christmas is coming, the weather is changing, and the leaves are changing colours I feel like people are generally happier. I tend to have nicer interactions with people at this time of year, I love how excited people get and hearing about everyone’s activities. It's a time of year where you can go out and experience things that you can't any other time of year plus you don't HAVE to spend a lot of money. Taking on simple craft projects means you can have fun at home, being creative and not spending a fortune.

    1. Right? It is the best holiday:) my favourite book is a series of short horror stories compiled together, I can't for the life of me remember what it's called but it has a gargoyle on the cover lol I'll have to dig it out, not touched it this year.

  7. In India, we don't celebrate Halloween but I've watched enough movies and TV shows as a child to know about the festival I think. However, the festival we celebrate this time of the year is Durga Puja/Dusshera. One thing about festivals, they allow more family time. And a lot of joy. 😊
