6 Life Experiences That Will NEVER Be On My Bucket List

6 Life Experiences That Will NEVER Be On My Bucket List
I was scrolling through TikTok one night when I came across a video of a Hot Air Balloon Experience.
This has been an activity that I’ve always wanted to do, I would have loved the chance!
So, eager to watch the Hot Air Balloon in action I watched.
By the end of the video I was left with a shiver through my body and a voice in my head declaring that this experience would now be firmly on my “never going to happen” list for life experiences.
That got me thinking about all the other experiences I’ve crossed off from ever being allowed to make it onto my Bucket List.
I’ve always been a bit of an adrenaline seeker, I’m not scared of heights and I love anything that gets my heart racing (in a good way). But, over the years I’ve been put off certain thrill seeking activities.
So, I thought I would share them on the blog and see if anyone else has certain life activities they will NEVER do.
6 Life Experiences That Will NEVER Make It Onto My Bucket List

Hot Air Balloon
First up I had to do Hot Air Balloon as it’s the most recent activity to go on the list.
Ever since I was a young girl I’ve wanted to have a Hot Air Balloon experience. I loved the magic of going up into the sky and seeing the landscapes far and wide.
It just seemed very appealing.
But, I came across this video on TikTok and boy did it change my mind.
See video here – vm.tiktok.com/ZMNGoJeG2/
In the video someone is videoing three Hot Air Balloons trying to take off from the ground but there were complications.
It’s all kinds of heart racing but not in a good way. Although one Balloon makes it up into the air ok, the second one goes much worse.
The man who was controlling the Hot Air Balloon fell out of the basket and left the customer alone. From what I can tell there is only one person left in the Hot Air Balloon as it makes its incline into the sky.
This absolutely terrified me!
Now all I can think about is being stuck in the Hot Air Balloon all on my own, the Balloon catching fire or continuing to go up and up and up. There’s so many things that are outside of my control.
So, I’ll be staying far away from that as an experience now, that’s for sure!

Hang Gliding
Hang Gliding is another activity I will never, EVER be doing.
I know that it’s a much loved experience by many people, and it looks like so much fun, but it’s just not for me.
The fact that it’s just you (and maybe an instructor) holding onto a bar and flying in the sky is a terrifying thought!
I know, I know, when you do these things there’s all the safety measures and such, but there are far too many variables on what can go wrong.
But what scares me the most is somehow ending up in the ocean or something and being attached to the safety gear and glider and drowning.
I couldn’t ever bring myself to willingly go through with this, no matter what.

Cruise
A cruise sounds absolutely wonderful. Sailing out to sea, good food, fun entertainment, laughs, memories, the works.
I would be lying if I said it doesn’t appeal to me in some way. But, I am seriously scared of the open sea so being on a massive ship in the middle of nowhere raises my blood pressure.
I find it strange how I can be fascinated and enchanted by water only to be absolutely terrified of it in certain situations.
Going out and swimming in the ocean or Lochs really fills my soul with happiness, but take me out into the ocean? No thank you.
There’s something about the black abyss below as you’re a tiny little dot in the water with no control.
It might have been all the movies I watched as a child with sharks and boats sinking that gave me this fear, but it really does fill me with terror.
So no, a cruise isn’t on the cards for me anymore and I’ll never step foot on one again.
Side note: I did experience a 4 day cruise when I was a child and hated every second of it.

Moving Motorbike
I love the look of motorbikes and I really enjoy being on the road and seeing them whizzing past, but you’ll not catch me on one if it’s moving.
For me the fear comes from my mum and a crash she was involved in.
What gave me the fear
When I was just a little girl around 6ish, my mum had a boyfriend who had a few motorbikes. He was such a lovely guy but they weren’t a match for each other, but they were still great friends.
One day he came round with some extra dog food for us and next thing I know my mums nipping out with him for a few hours while I’m with my gran.
Off they went and that was that. As a child I hadn’t any concept of time so it didn’t phase me that mum wasn’t home by bed time.
I got tucked in and sent to sleep.
Few hours later
I was woken up by my gran screaming and crying as I heard unfamiliar voices in the house. I remember creeping to the stairs and sitting looking through the wooden bannister as two policemen were in the living room with my gran.
One of them noticed me and told my gran I was there. She came and picked me up, held me in her arms and all I could hear was the police asking us to come to the hospital.
Walking into the hospital with my pink puff jacket over my golden Bell from Beauty and the Beast PJs, the scent of the place ingrained itself into my nose and the sirens of the ambulance roared.
The only thing I can properly remember from then on is my mum laying in a hospital bed with tubes all over her and her eyes closed.
The crash
An hour or so after my mum went out with her friend, they got into an accident. My mum was on the back of the bike while he drove, all wearing appropriate clothing and helmets.
A jeep crashed right into them and the bike went flying along with my mum and her friend. Luckily my mum was ok and just had some bad bruises and cuts.
Her friend though, sadly her friend passed away and it was such a heart breaking time.
How it changed my perception
Finding out about the full extent of the crash when I was old enough and looking back at my memories brings up a whole heap of pain. It was awful those few months after the crash with my mum’s health and feeling the empty void of the only guy I ever liked that my mum dated.
So yeah, that’s why I’ll not ever be going on a motorbike.

Rock Climbing a real Cliff
Rock Climbing in a centre is fine, I’ll happily get the harness on and off I go. But doing it on a real Cliff with no safety harness? No thanks!
I’m talking about the kind of Rock Climbing you see in Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 when Bella is a new vampire.
The thought of actually doing that makes me want to vomit. How is that enjoyable? How?! I just, I don’t understand it.
Just one wrong footing and bang, I’m a goner.
Not for me and never will be.

Caving also known as Spelunking
My fear of Caving which is also known as Spelunking came from the movie The Descent.
Although I rate it as one of my top horror films and love the idea of Caving on its own, after seeing that film, I’ll never be caught running through caves.
The fear of getting stuck, falling and breaking bones, being confined to small spaces, everything about it creeps me out.
This is another never, EVER going to happen experience.
Final Thoughts on 6 Life Experiences That Will NEVER Be On My Bucket List
And there you have it, 6 life experiences that I will NEVER do, not willingly anyway.
As much as I love the adrenaline seeking activities, there are some that are just a big no go for me and I’m sure many of us out there.
What experiences will you never do? I’d love to know in the comments!

I totally agree with you on all of these! I have never understood cruises, like you I just do not want to go on one. I don’t want to be trapped on a boat, even if it has all kinds of shops and entertainment.
Same!! I can’t think of anything worse than being stuck on a boat in the middle of the ocean, especially at night!
I’m with you on quite a few of these! Rock climbing, I did an abseil in my younger years when I had no fear, now fear has appeared and vertigo too so I would firmly not do this! Loved reading this thank you x
It’s so weird how as we get older our fears develop. I remember being a right dare devil as a child and I would have loved doing the free hand rock climbing and hot Air Balloon, but not now.
Yes! Hot air balloons terrify me, I’ve never fancied a cruise. My husband has a motorbike, it gives me anxiety every time he goes out, I know he’s sensible but it’s other drivers I worry about
They really are terrifying. Hate the thought of being stuck in one and what if it fails? Or goes up in flames?!
I often considered going up in a hot-air balloon but you’re quite right about what could go wrong!
I’d love to go on a cruise but I don’t fancy the other activities in your post!
Love this post! Great take on the typical bucket list. I would absolutely love to go on a cruise and I’ve done rock climbing and abseiling on actual cliff walls before and it was fantastic. I agree with the motorbike – NOPE. And hang gliding – NOPEEE. Skydiving and bungee jumping are two more that I have absolutely NO desire to do at all. I’ll save those for everyone else 😂😂
Interesting. It’s liberating to recognize the things that don’t need to be on your bucket list and free yourself from feeling like you could me missing out. As someone with height phobia, it’s tick, tick, tick to all of these.
There are a few things there I would do but the cruise for me is a no-no not that I’m afraid of the open sea but more like missing the ship (it happen to my mom one time during the 90s) and also the rock climbing.
I’m totally with you on all of these! I will be taking a cruise in June because my mom found an opportunity for my brother to come along as well (he has severe disability) so maybe I am a bit open to the idea of cruises. Spelunking/caving absolutely terrifies me! I’ve heard many horror stories.
I totally agree with all of these. Anything that’s adrenaline fueled, or involves great heights, is not for me.
Thanks for sharing, I get motion sickness so hot air balloon rides and cruises are off for me, and so are hand gliding and riding on a motorbike too. I would like to do a bungee jump and zorbing 🙂
