The Best Teethers for Babies
Teething has been a challenging journey for my little one, starting at just two weeks old.
His excessive pain has been extremely overwhelming at times, which sparked my passion for finding teething relief that works.
Over the past year, I’ve tested countless teethers and products such as Powders or Gels to ease his discomfort.
Some have been worth it, some others, not so much, that’s why I want to share my findings with other parents who really need it.
Keep reading to find out more about two of the best teethers for babies.

What Makes a Good Teether for Babies?
When it comes to teething, our babies need the best of the best don’t they?
A good teether should be safe, easy for our babies to hold, and effective at soothing their discomfort.
When choosing one, I always look for those made from baby-safe materials, like BPA-free plastic or food grade silicone.
Additionally, I also think texture is super important as it can help massage gums and provide necessary relief.
Another thing I like to look for, but isn’t always a requirement, is a teether that can be chilled to offer extra soothing effects.
These are my parameters for finding a good teether, and both of the teethers I’m sharing today tick the boxes!
Gummee Molar Mallet VS MAM Mini Cooler & Clip

The Molar Mallet from Gummee
Disclaimer: The Molar Mallet from Gummee is PR, however I would buy this in a heartbeat myself as its been so good for my sons teething. Additionally, I am under no obligation to create this post.

The Molar Mallet Review
This unique teether created by Gummee has been amazing for my boy and his molars coming in.
He’s had a bit of a rough time with teething, and the molars have been some of the worst to date.
But, I love that he has had his trusty Molar Mallet to hand when in need of a chew because it does make a difference.
I also particularly like the design because It’s convenient to use, easy to clean and the built in weight that stops the mouth piece from touching the ground when little hands like to throw it, is genuinely thee best.

Does my baby actually use it?
So I bet you’re wondering, does the baby actually use the Molar Mallet though?
Yes, yes he does! You can see in the video below that he loves to play with it, bite it and all around likes it.
It’s been a great teether to use and I’m so thankful because it’s helped a ton with my sons awful teething journey.
Here are some of the details I particularly like:
- The Ergonomic design that helps it to get into the hard to reach places.
- Its mallet shape allows for a comfortable grip, perfect for little hands.
- The varied textures on the teether help massage gums effectively.
- Made from BPA-free plastic, ensuring it’s safe for babies to chew on.
- It’s dishwasher safe, making it convenient for busy parents.

Cons of the Molar Mallet
I wouldn’t say these are cons as such, just points to consider when buying.
First, the size of the Molar Mallet might be too bulky for very small babies.
Gummee do say that this teether is for 12m+ so this is something to note if your baby is younger.
The Molar Mallet doesn’t have a cooling feature unfortunately, but we do stick my sons in the fridge for 5 minutes here and there, and it helps a little.

MAM Mini Cooler Review

When I say this has been one of the best buys I’ve made when choosing teethers, I mean it! It’s truly one of the best teethers for babies!
The MAM Mini Cooler and clip is still going strong after buying it quite early into our teething journey in 2024.
Baby Bear uses his mini cooler a lot, but especially when his teeth are just about breaking through the gum.
This has always been the most testing time in the teething journey, because when those tiny teeth are finally splitting the gum, all hell breaks loose.
So, having a teether that’s easy to hold and effectively cools the painful area is a blessing.
The MAM Mini Cooler has genuinely been so helpful for Baby Bear teething, so much so we have had to purchase a second one to keep up with his demand.
Having two is perfect because whilst he’s using one, the other is in the refrigerator cooling down in preparation for swapping out with.

Here are some of the details I particularly like:
- The MAM Mini Cooler teether can be chilled, providing extra relief for sore gums.
- Comes with a handy clip that keeps the teether safe.
- Its curved handle makes it easy for younger babies to handle.
- The design allows for the teether to get into those hard to reach places.
- Has texture to help massage the gums while chewing.

Cons of The MAM Mini Cooler and Clip
Again, I wouldn’t say these as cons as much as they are little things I’m nitpicking at.
I bought this when Baby Bear was only a couple of months old as it was listed as lightweight.
However, Baby Bear did find it a little heavy to hold in the beginning.
Thankfully though, the clip included made sure we didn’t lose it when he did drop it out his hands.
Another thing is that after washing it for the first time, I panicked thinking it was leaking.
But thankfully it was just trapped water between the blue cool area and the handle.
I do wish the instructions from MAM mentioned this, as I worried about potential risks to Baby Bear in the beginning thinking it was a faulty product.

Final Thoughts on The Best Teethers for Babies: Gummee VS MAM

Deciding between the Molar Mallet and the MAM Mini Cooler comes down to your baby’s specific needs.
Do you want one with a cooling feature? Is your baby 0+ months?
If so, the MAM Mini Cooler & Clip is a great choice.
However, if your baby is able to hold a larger base and needs something that they can sink their growing teeth into, the Molar Mallet from Gummee is a solid choice.
Both of these teethers would be fantastic additions to your arsenal of teething tools though because each has its own amazing features.
Whether you lean towards Gummee or MAM, or both! Rest assured that any choice will help soothe your baby’s teething woes.
