The Best Baby Monitor I’ve Ever Bought [Updated for 2026]

Let me tell you why this is the best baby monitor I’ve ever bought!

I’m not exaggerated when I say our HelloBaby baby monitor has been put through the RINGER.

From tantrums to puddles of water, it’s survived it all!

And it was only a last minute buy because our expensive one broke after a slight bump.

Never did I expect that a little budget camera could outlast, and out perform a higher-end one.

Just to add before we go any further! I paid for the monitor with my own money, I wasn’t asked to review and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I genuinely believe this is the best baby monitor I’ve ever bought.

It’s been a while since I was last reviewing a product because it absolutely blew me away with quality and performance.

But I couldn’t help start singing this HelloBaby Monitor’s praises after a rather unfortunate event where the portable screen fell in a puddle of water! (It was rather deep)

In that moment I knew it was the best baby monitor ever!

There I was, helping my gran with gardening while baby bear slept, the screen sitting atop the garden table.

Because its winter, we put a protective tarpaulin over the table and chairs, and it’s so big puddles form at the bottom.

Anyway, there I was pulling some dead foliage away when a gust of wind knocked the HelloBaby Monitor screen over and it subsequently fell in the puddle.

In that moment I froze, eyes widening with pure panic.

Eventually I made a dash for it, scooped it up and ran for a towel, the whole time whispering “F*ck* to myself haha.

Thankfully all was working and no sign of any water damage.

Now here I am, 2/3 weeks later and writing this post because IT STILL WORKS!

It’s still going strong, still works, sound quality is fine and nothing seems out of the ordinary.

Consider my gasted-flabbered.

Pssst. It’s 2026 and this baby monitor is STILL going strong. Honestly, THEE best baby buy, by far.

The puddle incident isn’t the first time this poor portable screen has been put in harm’s way unfortunately.

But, time after time it still works and I’m always surprised because I keep waiting for the day it gives up.

This thing has been thrown across the room, knocked out my hand so many times, thrown down stairs!

Even the dog had a hold of it at one point.

And through it all, the things still standing, STILL working.

The Camera’s also gone through some tumbles as well thanks to me catching the
wire randomly, and it works fine.

So, now that you know how durable this thing is, let’s take a look at some of it’s other great qualities!

But first, let me share a nifty little trick for getting 15% off baby necessities!

If you’re an expecting parent, or know someone who is, then you NEED to know about the Amazon Baby Wishlist!

This was a great tool when I was pregnant with Baby Bear for getting baby necessities and receiving an exclusive discount.

Not only that, it was great to share with family and friends who were insisting on buying us something. Using the Baby Wishlist helped make sure we didn’t end up with too much of one item, nor did we get any doublers.

This was in complete contrast to my first pregnancy where we had far too many of the same things.

The Amazon Baby Wishlist gives expectant parents a way to curate a list of needs and wants with ease. With access to over 100,000 baby items, you can fully personalise you list.

Here are some of the benefits of the Baby Wishlist:

  • Recommendations of top baby wishlist products
  • Get a free welcome gift when you create a Baby Wishlist
  • Curated lists of popular products to make shopping for baby easier
  • Share list with friends and family at the click of a button via social media or email
  • Thank you list to easily track gifts
  • Universal Wishlist: Easily add items from any website for one easy to manage wishlist using Amazon Assistant
  • Free shipping for Prime members

Oh, and did I mention that you can save 15% on eligible items from your Amazon Baby Wishlist and save up to £300!

I highly recommend you set one up, it’s AMAZING and has great benefits.

What initially drew me to the HelloBaby Monitor was that it doesn’t connect via WiFi or an app.

I’ve seen too many bad stories of parents who’s baby monitors were hacked into or accidentally accessed by strangers through the WiFi connection.

This absolutely terrifies me, so I wanted one I knew no one but me or his dad could access.

Instead of WiFi, the monitor and camera are connected via secured advanced FHSS 2.4GHz technology.

This makes it a good choice for parents who value privacy.

Another point that drew me to this baby monitor was the screen size and the fact it has a night vision mode.

The LCD screen is a decent size and has a good picture quality.

Is it the best display screen I’ve seen? No.
But does it do the job? Yes, yes it does.

Although it’s not a high HD display, you still get good detail and I’ve never had a problem of trying to work out what I’m seeing.

The night vision works well and automatically changes depending on the light in the room.

I think this is such a cool feature!

OK so, this is where I have to knock a couple of points off.

Unfortunately I do find the battery goes quick.

Or at-least quicker than the one we had before.

It has done this since being out of the packaging so it’s not an issue I would put down to the wear and tear.

I find that a full charge does me for three sessions max.

For context, it gets used for about an hour and a half during nap time, then again for 3 – 3 and a half hours at night when baby bear is sleeping.

So, the full charge lasts me around 6-7 hours watch time.

Is this terrible? I don’t think so.

I manage it and always make sure it’s on charge so it doesn’t run out.

However, you do get a flashing green light on the monitor screen to alert you that it needs charged before it cuts off.

This warning lasts around 5-10 minutes before the screen cuts off.

Where I feel they compensate for the battery life though, is through the ability to use while charging.

The baby monitor comes with two long wires.

There’s one for the camera and one for the screen so both can be plugged in at the same time.

It’s worth noting that it’s not a standard UK plug, but instead a USB connection, so I highly recommend getting some USB plugs or those extension plugs with USB ports.

I really like that this little HelloBaby monitor is a powerhouse of a product because it packs so much in.

With this monitor there are built-in intercom speakers and you can hear your baby clearly which is great.

I like that I can control the volume and even mute if necessary.

You also have the option of connecting up to 4 cameras on the one screen and that’s a fantastic feature if you need to monitor multiple rooms.

So with this HelloBaby Monitor you get real time video of everything that’s happening, but there’s also the Eco Mode option.

When in Eco Mode, the screen will be dark and only light up when your little one is crying, alerting you to their needs.

This is a great function if you’re using it overnight.

Don’t worry though, it’s always monitoring baby and I’ve found it to be accurate, although it isn’t a function I use often.

Personally we only use this function when battery is low and the cable isn’t at hand, it’s great for adding extra time until we can get it on charge.

To make sure the Eco Mode works just how you want it there are different sensitivity settings.

This means you don’t have to worry about how much sound it picks up or how little.

Another couple of handy features are the rotation and zoom abilities.

With the zoom feature you can get in up to 2x closer making it easier to see if your little one is awake or not.

The camera can also rotate 360° horizontally and 120° Vertically, allowing you to see your baby from any view.

It is worth noting that the rotation ability can only be controlled manually, so I suggest making sure the view is perfect before leaving the room.

As setting up goes, this couldn’t have been easier!

I literally took it out of the box, got it all plugged in and everything was synced and ready to go.

Honestly, I couldn’t believe how easy it was!

This is something I really appreciated because as a mum with chronic health issues, I need easy to set up products.

There was no fuss, no time wasted and everything was extremely straight forward.

Definitely the best baby monitor I’ve ever bought.

What else can I say that I haven’t already?

The HelloBaby Monitor is a fantastic purchase and I genuinely cannot believe it because the price was fantastic!

I paid £37.98 for it in 2024, but have seen it fluctuate in price often so worth keeping an eye on.

Genuinely, I mean it when I say I am blown away by this product! So much so it helped me dust off my review hat after a very long hiatus.

What completely sealed it for me was the puddle incident because wow, how is it STILL going strong, still charging and working as perfect as ever?!

It really is the best baby monitor I have ever bought, so if you’re looking for one, buy this one!

A: When selecting the Best Baby Monitor, you should consider factors like range, video quality, and battery life.

Think about whether you will need additional features like night vision or two-way audio.

It’s all about what fits your lifestyle and gives you peace of mind when it comes to your little ones safety.

A: Video monitors offer you a visual check in, which can be really reassuring.

However, audio-only monitors are often more budget-friendly and often have longer battery life.

It really all depends on your preference of just a watchful eye or a listening ear, or both.

A: The ideal range varies, but look for monitors with at least 600-1000 feet of range.

This will ensure coverage throughout your home, so you can keep an ear, or eye, on your little one from anywhere.

A: Extra features like temperature sensors can be helpful, especially if you’re concerned about room conditions.

They aren’t essential, but they do add an extra layer of comfort and convenience to the Best Baby Monitor.
