July Roundup | Taking a look back at July

After really enjoying doing the June Roundup post, I’ve decided to keep it going. So, here I am, back with another for July.

Being able to look back at the month and see in black and white what we got up to is nice. So often I find that I forget special moments as my head gets muddled up pretty easily thanks to fibro fog. Having a post like this though means I can keep them fresh in mind and truly appreciated those good days.

This time I’ve made sure to keep a note in my phone where I wrote down things we got up to. I would lay in bed at night, jotting down little bullet points from the day to jog my memory when it came to putting this roundup together. Honestly, it’s been way easier this time round with actual notes to refer to.

July Roundup

During the month of July we really had a lot on and I have to say, it was super fun! I loved going for days out and discovering new places because Little bear had an absolute ball. Although we had a great time this month, I am super glad to be having some time to myself for a few days. You see, I have been pushing through fibromyalgia flare ups and I’m definitely suffering for it now.

With little bear going away with his Uncle and Aunties, I get to have some chill time and it’s very needed right now. The memories we have made have been priceless, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. We have pretty much been busy the whole month but today I’m only focusing on the “big” experiences.

Anyway, let’s take a look at what we got up to this month.

1st July – Got My Hair Done

On the 1st I got my hair done again. Although I loved the colour that was achieved, my roots were growing in at an alarming rate. This meant I had to get them touched up and this time we went a shade lighter. The way it blended with the rest of the hair made me feel so happy to look at it again. I was initially worried because I wanted my roots covered and a lighter shade was being suggested, but my stylist absolutely nailed it.

It’s not something I would have chosen on my own, so I am glad I actually listened to and trusted my lovely stylist Kirsty.

8th July – Seeing My Best Friend Lisa

I love getting to see my Best Friend Lisa. She’s been my best friend for 15 years now, so of course I love spending time with her, but even more so now that she has a son, N. He’s super adorable but thanks to the “panorama” we’ve not gotten to hang out as much as I would like so this is my 3rd time seeing him. Little bear and I took a trip up to her house for the day which was very exciting as LB was excited to see baby N and his friend M (Lisa’s nephew who he calls his best friend from the wedding).

It was such a lovely day. The boys played together, I got some proper adult conversation and it was nice to spend some time with Lisa and her family (Husband, son, nephew and sister). N turned 1 not that long ago so we took some presents up for him and M who also had a birthday two days before we went up. It was so nice to see the boys playing well together still and having a blast.

18th July – Day out to Yellowcraig Beach

One of my main goals for July was to visit a beach, and we definitely smashed that one! My friend L (Linda) and I took little bear to Yellowcraig beach and it was honestly amazing. The beach was so quiet, very relaxed and the views were just breath taking.

We spent the full day having fun, going in the water, building sand castles and having food. It was definitely one of the best days out I’ve had in a long time. We enjoyed the beach so much, we decided that camping would be quite fun to do.

19th July – Day out with Sister In Law and Kids

On Monday 19th my Sister in law and I arranged a day out with the kids. It’s been a while since we have hung out just us and the kids so it was well overdue. Soft play, bowling and the arcade was the plans and the kids had an absolute ball.

First up we hit the soft play which was for two hours, the kids had a great time running around and climbing all over the place. After that we went for a little walk where we found a sensory garden. It was a lovely place, very zen and fun for the kids. After that it was time for bowling and the kids loved it! We had some good food, lots of laughs and afterwards we hit up the arcade.

All in all it was a fantastic day out, so fun!

20th July – Camping at Yellowcraig Beach

Since we loved the day out to Yellowcraig so much, we planned a camping trip which was just wow.

I honestly cannot recommend the wild camping at Yellowcraig beach enough! The views were amazing, watching the sunset was something else entirely and it was nice just chilling out and forgetting about life for a while. I actually wrote a post on Wild Camping at Yellowcraig Beach in Scotland so I won’t go into full detail here, but it was thoroughly enjoyable.

I loved watching the kids run around, having fun and laughing. We went with my friend L and her family so it was very kind of them to organise this with us because it was very fun.

25th July – Day out to kilcreggan

On Sunday 25th we headed out to Kilcreggan for the day with and her family. We’ve never been before despite it being only an hour and a half drive. To say we were excited to explore a new place is an understatement.

We spent the whole day on the rocky beach, playing in the water, combing the rock pools and having so much fun. It was nice to go somewhere different and have an enjoyable day. It’s so lovely that L and her family invited us out again because LB just adores spending time with them and honestly, so do I.

The day was so good that we didn’t get home until 11pm! So it was a full day out. I would go back in a heart beat because Kilcreggan is just gorgeous. So many beautiful views that make you forget about everyday life for a while.

30th July – Little bear goes to Craig Tara

The day this post will be live, is the day Little Bear is going on a trip with his Uncle and Aunties to a caravan. It will be his first trip away with me or hid dad being there so I’m a little nervous, but he is absolutely buzzing!

Little bear will be away from the 30th to the 2nd, and I know he is going to have tons of fun! There are so many activities booked for all the kids (literally all his cousins are going to there will be a horde of kids running around lol) so I’m sure LB will forget about everything and just enjoy himself. I will miss him tons though.

• Arrange some play dates for Little bear – Little bear had some fun play dates and got to see his cousin a lot.
• Go to the beach – Smashed it! We visited two different beaches and even camped at one!
• Have a BBQ – Unfortunately I didn’t tick this one off, but we cooked while camping so does that count? lol
• Go on an adventure – Yep! We went for a day out with my friend and her family which was nice.
• Go a walk at least twice a week – Yeah, this didn’t stick haha. But we have been so blooming busy.
• Drink 2000ml water every day – Smashed it! and I’m so proud of myself.
• Get some new clothes for Little Bears caravan trip – Took LB out and he chose a bunch of clothes, so glad to have this one ticked off!
• Arrange a date night – Things have been a bit all over the places with some stuff going on. Hopefully next time.

And that’s my July Roundup. I have had so much fun writing this July roundup post! It’s really enjoyable looking back at the month and seeing everything we have gotten up to, such a great way to hold onto the memories.
