My February To-Do List | 2022 Edition

February, oh how glad I am to see you! After an abysmal start to the year, I’m so happy that January is over with. Hopefully this means life can move on a bit and those pesky January blue can be gone.

This year the excitement of a new year and new possibilities was squashed rather quickly.

Mental health dip

My mental health took a massive dip and my confidence plummeted. I think all the stress and worry carried over from December and a massive loss in our lives definitely didn’t help.

There’s only so much faking it you can do before it starts to pile up. Thankfully I got some time at the end of January to focus solely on myself as Little Bear went to his dad’s for a few nights.

It was a massive help because I didn’t have the added pressure of worrying about how I was feeling impacting LB. This allowed me to indulge in emergency self-care to try and get to the bottom of why I’ve been feeling so yuck.

I’m not 100% better, but my depression isn’t clouding my mind quite as severely as it was. Plus, my flare up has calmed down a bit as well.

Moving on

Anyway, enough rambling on about the negatives. If I keep going, we’ll be here till next February haha.

Now it’s time to take a look at this month’s to-do list. After that I’ll be touching on January’s to do list since I’ve not had enough to create a full January Look Back posts.

Organise Blog Posts

I have a ton of blog posts just sitting in my drafts that are either half finished or just started. So, I plan on tackling them in the next few days to create order and get more organised. With my mental health being so low I lost all interest in writing. Now that it’s starting to go on the up though, I think it’s high time I get back to normality with the blog.

For the first time in a while I’m truly excited to be writing and creating again. Those posts that are half finished or just about are ones I’ve been eager to post. Just knowing they will be live soon fills me with joy. It’s nice to feel that again.

Batch Take Photos

Last month I said I would be batch taking photos, but I didn’t quite get around to it. I had a day where I took some photos but half way through I had a bit of a wobble. Sitting on my room floor crying as I held the camera was definitely a sign to stop for a bit.

Now that I’m finding my passions enjoyable again, I plan to actually get around to batch taking photos. Having not had the security of photos to pick from when needed, it will be a welcomed change.

Schedule Poppy in to be Spayed

At the beginning of January Poppy started her first season. It lasted for weeks and she was bleeding quite heavy which was a shame. Always curling up in bed and did not want to move. I’m sure a lot of us who menstruate can relate!

But now that she’s had her first experience with being in heat, we can get her booked in to be spayed. We want to get it done ASAP so that she doesn’t have to go through all that again as she was visibly affected by it. Plus it’s one of the rules we were informed about when adopting Poppy. Because she’s from Romania it’s our duty of care to have her spayed.

Stream Twice a Week

If you follow me on Twitter you may have seen that I have started up my own Twitch channel. This has been something I’ve wanted to do for the longest time. Playing games is one of my down time activities, especially playing The Sims. Although it’s my down time activity, I’ve always wondered what it would be like to start streaming it as I often talk away to myself anyway.

Lack of confidence and worrying about what people may think has held me back. But, going into 2022 I made a promise to myself to start doing those things I’m scared of. I vowed that this will be the year that I “just do the damn thing” because why should I let the worry of other people’s opinions stop me? In reality no one cares, we are all focused on our own lives.

So I bit the bullet and just went for it. Not going to lie, it’s been hella scary! I’m still extremely nervous when I start to stream and I’m worried if I talk how I normally talk in day to day life people won’t understand me as I use a lot of Scottish slang and I swear…. a lot! I guess it’s a learning curve and I’ll find my groove eventually.

With all that being said, my goal is to stream at least twice a week. Hopefully it goes to plan.

Get car fixed

My car is leaking oil so I think it’s time to get it seen to. I’ll be honest, I could be doing without the expense right now as money is tight at the moment. But, it needs to be fixed before the problem gets any worse.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my go to garage will be able to fit me in because I don’t trust anyone else with my car. Or to not over charge me!

Take Little Bear to the Cinema

Little Bear is chomping at the bit to go and see Sing 2, and honestly, so am I! I’m hoping we can have a little mother son time and take a trip to the cinema with just the two of us.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a day like that where we go and do something fun like lunch and the Cinema. I’m not going to tell him though, the plan is to book it all and surprise him on the day.

Start Working Out Again

With my mental health being quite low recently, I’ve had the idea to start working out again. When I was doing my home workouts I was feeling a lot more confident within myself as I was doing something for me. It allowed me to take time out of the day and focus on something that’s not work or screen related.

I’ve looked out all of my workout equipment and I plan to do half an hour every few days to build my tolerance back up. Because I get flare ups with my fibro and chronic fatigue easily, I need to be careful I don’t over do it. If I do, I’ll just fall away from working out again and that’s really not what I want this time round.

A look back at January’s to-do List

Buy myself flowers

As I mentioned in my January to-do list, buying myself flowers at the start of the year has become a ritual for me. I love treating myself to some pretty, fresh flowers. True to tradition, I picked myself out some nice pink and white flowers and added in gypsophila.

Get new products listed

Although January was a bit of a downer for my mental health and I couldn’t get asany products listed as I wanted to, I still got a few out in the world.

You can see the new range here – Etsy Store

Sort Little Bears birthday

Little Bear was meant to have a big birthday party, but thanks to new rules brought in about gatherings and my own worry, we decided against it. I thought it was much safer to not hold a big gathering, and I’m glad because someone in the family tested positive who would have come.

Because the party was cancelled, we just had a little thing in the house with LB, his dad, gran and myself. He had a great time though and we made sure to celebrate for a few days with game nights, movies, cake and more. So it’s safe to say I got everything sorted from balloons to personalised cupcakes.

Continue Poppy’s training

I spoke about Poppy’s training in my last to-do post and working on Paw and recall with her. Although I didn’t foresee that she would get her first season and we went through a tough few weeks with lots of blood and her being quite tired, she has now successfully learned Paw. Her recall has also gotten better and 9 times out of 10 she will come when called the first time.

Hit 10k steps each day

This goal was a bit of a “shoot for the moon” moment. I wanted to challenge myself to hit 10k steps because I’ve been consistently doing between 6k-8k but I knew that it wouldn’t always be feasible.

There were a good few days where I did 11k plus and some I did hit 10k but most of the time I was still between 6k-8k. With my mental health on the down and my fibro flaring, I just couldn’t do it. I’m not angry at myself though, I’ll just keep trying and doing my best.

Drink 2L of water a day

With my health kick in full swing, I did manage 2L of water everyday. I’m so proud that I stuck to this one.

Finish off blog posts that are in draft stages

Because of my mental health and multiple anxiety attacks daily, I didn’t write as much as I wanted to. I did get a few more fleshed out and some finished, but not as many as I wanted to.

Batch take photos

Yeah… this one was a bust. I took some photos now and then, but didn’t batch take like I planned. Because of that I’ve added it to my to do list for this month and I’m happy to say I’ve already had one day of taking photos.
