Christmas day is drawing closer and closer.

Before we know it the day will have come and gone in a blink of an eye and it will all be over for another year.

With festivities in the air and everyone getting ready for the big day, I thought it would be fun to do a Christmas Questionnaire to get myself firmly in that festive mood.

It’s the 11th day of blogmas which means I’m almost done!

This year is my first year properly taking part.

So, I decided to go for the 12 days of Christmas as to not overwhelm myself. Although I could have gone all the way up till the 25th with the amount of motivation I’ve had.

But instead, I channelled that energy into creating new content for 2021 which feels like it’s just round the corner.

I mean, it is, but I feel like it’s flying past!

11th Day of Blogmas

Anyway, for my 10th day of blogmas I thought doing a Christmas Questionnaire would be fun.

It gives you an insight into why I love the festivities and helps you, the reader, get to know me a bit better.

This questionnaire is the product of no sleep and lots of caffeine, so I have had fun coming up with questions and writing down my answers.

This is a Blogging Tag Post, so join in!

The Big Christmas Questionnaire Tag

For this Tag post, I’ve kept it very easy and simple with only a few rules which are as follows

Tag Rules
  • Answer the 15 Questions
  • Tag up to 10 others to take part
  • Reference “Tag by @Ofaglasgowgirl” in your post
  • Thank the person who tagged you
  • Have fun!

There is an image below that you are free to use if you like, if you take part.

I would love to read everyone’s answers and see what your memories are.

If you do fancy having a go at this questionnaire yourself, be sure to tag me on socials so that I can come have a read!

Plus, it’s always nice to share where the ideas came from.

Anyway, enough of my rambling, let’s get stuck in, shall we?

The Big Christmas Questionnaire

1. What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?

I love Christmas for many reasons!

It’s filled with joy, family and love.

But my favourite thing about Christmas time is being able to see the joy in my boy’s face throughout the month of December.

Festivities

We do a lot of festive activities in the run up to the big day like baking, crafts, playing games and just generally having a great time.

And that’s my favourite part, spending time doing things with my boy and seeing the excitement he has.

2. Do you have a favourite festive scent?

I do!

Well, I have two.

One is a candle scent, and the other is just one of those ones that you tend to smell throughout the Christmas period.

My favourite candle is Candy Cane. There’s a Yankee candle I get every year and I just adore how it fills my room up with that festive scent.

Then the Christmas smell is festive spice. At least that’s what I think it is as I associate festive spice with it.

You smell it at the Christmas markets or when walking around the shops getting the presents in and I just adore it.

3. What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

I cannot just pick one as there are two I love to watch every year.

Elf and The Grinch.

Both of these films have many memories attached to them and over the years they have kept racking them up which makes these films mean the absolute world to me.

One of the best memories I have with The Grinch is getting cosy in my room with tons of blankets and pillows and cuddling up with my mum and gran to watch it for about the 10th time.

We were watching the movie when all of a sudden there was a power cut.

So, we got the stove kettle on, made some hot chocolate, lit some candles and watched the rest of the movie on my portable DVD player my uncle got me.

It was one of those nights that really sticks in my mind.

4. Do you have a Christmas eve tradition?

I don’t want to say too much about this right now as I have a collaboration post coming out where I detail it.

But, we love to spend the night getting baths/showers, watching movies, maybe making cookies for Santa.

Then we open our Christmas eve bags, get into PJs and settle down for the night, all ready for Santa.

5. What’s your favourite Christmas memory?

Now this is a tough one!

There are a lot of Christmas memories that stick out for various reasons.

But, I would have to pick the Christmas where my family was altogether for the very last time, which was 1998.

The best Christmas

I was 6 at the time and my great granddad as at our house along with my uncle, mum and gran.

We were altogether, eating dinner, opening presents and having a great time.

I don’t remember much of it but the one thing I do remember is my uncle sitting across the table, pinging brussels sprouts at me.

My mum was laughing at a joke my great granddad told, my gran was being her usual self and serving out more food and I remember feeling safe.

That was the very last Christmas I had all my family around me, and it was magical.

6. What’s the most memorable present you’ve ever received?

The most memorable gift I ever received was Mr Hankey, the sailor poo and Cartman teddies from south park. This was the same Christmas that we were altogether, 1998.

Now, I know it sounds strange a 6-year-old getting characters from south park, especially since it’s an adult cartoon.

But, my uncle and I would watch it all the time together, it was like our little secret that wasn’t much of a secret I later found out.

It was our thing and he bought me the Mr. Hankey and Cartman teddies and I LOVED them.

So much and I’ve still got Mr. Hankey to this day.

My uncle died in 2000, so I’ve never felt right binning anything from him.

7. How long before the 25th do you put presents under the tree?

Before Little bear was born, we would put them under around the 15th/16th. But, since LB made his way onto the scene, we don’t put anything out until the 24th into the 25th, depending on when he goes to sleep.

We tell little bear that all the presents get sent over to Santa, and that he keeps them safe for us so that he can deliver them with his presents on Christmas.

8. Who did you spend your last Christmas with?

Last Christmas I spent the day with my Little Bear, my other half S, my gran and my mother-in-law, Kathleen.

It was a lovely Christmas day!

We had tons of fun and it was nice to spend it with both the families in one house which we won’t be able to do this year.

9. Did you send Santa letters when you were a child?

Every year until I was 8, I would send a Santa letter and I LOVED getting one back.

I found out years later that our old neighbour, Liz, would hand write the Santa letters for me and make me up a little gift pack.

Liz was an AMAZING woman.

She was the kindest soul you could ever meet, and she reminded me of a character from the Victorian era as she was always dressed up, hair did, and she was a beautiful woman inside and out.

10. Have you ever re-gifted a Christmas present?

Yes…

I would say I hate to admit it, but I don’t because I believe in re-using gifts if they serve a purpose.

I would much rather a gift gets used than sits collecting dust.

11. Do you have a favourite Christmas decoration?

I actually don’t, I like all our Christmas decorations, but I don’t particularly have a favourite.

I did have one when I was younger, a Santa snow globe.

This was my most cherished Christmas decoration, but unfortunately one of my ex’s broke it when he was drunk.

12. What does your dream Christmas morning look like?

My dream Christmas morning looks like me, surrounded by my family, snow falling outside with a fire going and we are all laughing, enjoying our time together.

Basically, not much different from what we do right now, but with a bigger living room and ALL the family.

That means my gran, little bear, my other half and all his siblings, their children and his mum.

13. Do you prefer the starter or dessert at Christmas dinner?

I’m much more into dessert than a starter.

I don’t like starters much anymore, not since I got really sick one year after eating one.

Now we normally do a buffet style dinner followed by dessert which is my absolute favourite.

14. If you could invite 3 people to Christmas dinner, living or dead, who would it be and why?

This isn’t even a tough one, it would be my mum, my uncle and my great granddad.

I miss them all so much and I would love to have one last Christmas dinner with them.

15. What age were you when you discovered Santa wasn’t real?

I was 8 years old, it was November, and I was playing hide and seek with my gran.

We were running all over the house when I opened a closet, climbed inside, shut the door and waited to be found.

All of a sudden, a bunch of boxes fell on me.

When my gran was pulling me out, I saw the Santa sacks and presents and I questioned it, a lot ha-ha.

Eventually my mum told me there was no Santa and that he wasn’t real.

She was in one of her episodes at the time, it broke my heart but now that I’m older, I realise it wasn’t her fault, still hurt finding out that way though.

  2. Your Christmas sounds like so much fun! It's lovely that LB still believes, unfortunately Flora and I had the talk about Santa not being real last year, sob. I explained that the Spirit of Christmas and giving gifts and showing kindness is real but because that's a hard concept for little ones to grasp, we tell them about Santa. She loved that! Happy Christmas, Jordanne! xxx
