When Life Gives You Lemons? | Chatty Life Update [Updated – June 2025]
You know that old saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade?”
Well, right now, life’s tossing lemons at me from every direction, and honestly, I have no idea what to do with them, let alone how to make lemonade!
When Life Gives You Lemons, A Chatty Update
A lot has happened over the last few months, and while the year has had its fair share of good moments, it’s also brought some pretty heavy lows.
We lost a family member, I broke a bone in my foot, my depression has crept back in, and at times, it’s felt like the walls were closing in around me.
Still, I’ve been doing my best not to dwell too much on the bad days.
That said, some days it’s just not possible to stay positive and on those days, I give myself permission to rest, even if that means spending a few hours in bed.
Starting off strong
February actually started off strong!
I’d just returned to the gym and felt more motivated than I had in ages.
But by the second week, things started to spiral and I’ve been trying to get back on track ever since.
There have been moments where everyday life has felt like a total chore.
My mental health took a dip, and hurting my foot really knocked my confidence.
I’m not as mobile as I’m used to, which only added to the frustration.
To try and manage it all, I’ve been setting time aside to focus on myself, but as you know, that’s much easier said than done.
Some nights, I’m so exhausted that I crash as soon as I get into bed, which means any chance of “me” time disappears.
Other nights, I’m up with pain and unable to concentrate.
It’s like I’m stuck in this uncomfortable space between doing too much and not doing enough.
But now that we’re in a new month, I’m trying to let go of what’s already happened.
Shifting my mindset
I can’t turn back time, and I definitely don’t want to ruin the present by clinging to the past.
It’s time to shift my mindset and focus on what’s ahead.
Lately, it’s been weighing on me that I haven’t spent much time with family.
I’ve let work and other responsibilities take over, and with all the thoughts around mortality swirling in my head, it hit me, When Life Gives You Lemons, you really have to figure out how to make the most of them.
Life is short and unpredictable.
We all know that deep down, but sometimes it takes a personal wake up call to really feel it.
I’ve realised that I don’t want to let life pass me by. I want to be more present.
I want to give Little Bear the best childhood possible.
And most of all, I want to be genuinely happy.
Final Thoughts on When Life Gives You Lemons
I’ve been in this place before, where life feels like it’s starting to look up after a rough patch, so I’m not going to promise big changes or dramatic declarations.
I don’t have a detailed plan right now.
But I do have the desire to make things better, to move forward, and to create a life that feels good again.
So, with that in mind, I’m changing things up.
In my life and on my blog.
Because honestly? I miss it.
I miss writing, sharing, connecting, and feeling passionate about something.
When Life Gives You Lemons, maybe it’s the perfect time to squeeze out something new.

Absolutely agree with you hun. It can be so hard to juggle everything at the same time at the best of times, but even more so if you are recovering from an injury or feeling low. Life certainly is for living though, and think sometimes we just get so wrapped up in things we forget sometimes, but that’s ok!Em xx
I totally get this. I feel very similar at the moment, like the rut I fell into a few weeks back just will not shift. It's so frustrating because when you want to be positive and productive things always seem to get in your way, don't they? Hope you're feeling back on top of it all soon! x
I don't have some grand plan either, so I've found that living mindfully in the present is such a gift & really helps you prioritise what's important–relationships. We were literally made to love others & be loved by them, and when it comes down to it, that's all that matters in this life <3 xxx
Aww I hope you get back to the blogging mood soon! 🙂 I'm sure you will, so take it easy and take it one day at a time 🙂
