30 Things To Do Before 30 Bucket List [Updated for 2026]

Well, it’s official! I’m 29 years old, meaning I’m one year away from 30. *cries internally*

Although I’m not that scared of being 30 anymore, the thought of mortality weighs heavy on my mind. I can’t help but think about all the wasted time over the years, where I didn’t do something because I was too worried about what other people’s opinions were.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been digging deep and going over in my mind what really matters to me.

As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned to just say f**k it because it’s my life. I have to take charge and just do the damn thing without worrying about what others have to say.

LThis led me to create a bucket list of things I want to achieve by the time I’m 30.

Although I don’t think 30 is the cut off for the rest of my life, it is the beginning of a new chapter.

My 30 before 30 bucket list

When putting together my bucket list I thought about those things that I have enjoyed over the years so there are things in here I have done in the past, but I want to do again.

I also thought about things I haven’t done, but would like to tick off before the big 30 comes around.

1: Buy a house

Buying a house is my number one goal before I’m 30. Having been looking at houses and thinking about it for so long, I’m ready to get out there and buy one.

The goal is to have a home for little bear, our own home just for us. It would be nice to have this done before starting the next chapter of my life so we can have a fresh start.

2: Go to a festival

Going to festivals isn’t new to me, I have been to a few over the years.

Normally I would do one a year but with everything that’s been happening in the world I haven’t felt ready to take the step and go again.

Hopefully, next year I’ll get to one with some friends and tick this off.

3: Solo Hotel stay

A solo hotel stay sounds very appealing, especially when you’re switched on all the time.

Getting away on my own would be a lovely chance to recharge and get back to basics.

Plus, I think it would be great to experience as it’s out of my comfort zone.

4: Spa day

Much like a solo hotel stay, a solo spa day is quite intriguing to me.

I’ve always let my anxiety get in the way of doing things I enjoy and a big thing for me right now is letting go of fear.

I don’t want to enter my 30’s having any regrets or feeling like I stopped myself from progressing.

Having a chilled spa day would be a lovely relaxing experience, maybe I could go on a solo hotel stay at one that has a spa.

5: Get 3 new piercings

I LOVE piercings, I have 23 at the moment and I love the idea of getting some more.

Ideally, I would love to get my septum re-done and a few more in my ears. So, hopefully I’ll be ticking this one off soon.

6: Get a tattoo, or a few

Much like piercings, I adore tattoos. My dream has always been to be filled with them and I wish I would have just gone for it instead of being shy about approaching artists.

Luckily I have an appointment booked for November 4th to get my half sleeve finished with such a talented woman. Once that’s finished I’ll be able to focus on getting more work done.

7: Look back to this day & be proud I stuck to my health journey

Over the years I have been on a rocky road with my health and fitness.

I get to a point where I feel like I’m finally on the right track and then I fall away from it.

There are issues I have to work through, mainly feeling like I don’t deserve to take care of myself.

I’ve drawn a line in the sand now and I’ll be working to change my mindset on this so that I can be proud of myself in a year’s time for sticking to it.

This is about looking after my health, about making choices that serve me instead of hinder my progress.

8: Do couch to 5k

As I’m trying to stick to looking after my health, I would love to start the couch to 5k again.

Back in July I decided to give it a go and got up to the 3rd week but like everything else health or fitness wise, I gave up. Hopefully I can start it again and actually finish it.

9: Camp at a beach

Although we camped at Yellowcraig beach this year, I would like to do it again. I loved camping at the beach, little bear had the best time and we made so many memories there.

10: Book a photoshoot

As I’m on a journey to self-acceptance, I would love to book a photoshoot for myself to help get out of that comfort zone.

It would be nice to look at myself in a different light for once and I think doing a photoshoot would be a great idea to help boost my confidence.

11: Do a Munro

This was a suggestion from a friend who I told about my bucket list.

They have been doing some munro’s and asked if I would like to do one with them. It would be great to get to a point with my body where I feel like I could actually do it.

My fibro does flare up a lot and it often holds me back as I worry I’ll get worse, so I would love to build up to doing a munro.

12: Go strawberry picking

I LOVE strawberry picking and I can’t remember the last time I actually went to a strawberry field, so it would be nice to tick this off my bucket list.

My plan is to go in the summer of 2022 with little bear and have some fun making memories with him.

13: Read 15 books

Although I enjoy reading books, I’m someone who needs to be in the mood for it otherwise I get annoyed and distracted very easily.

But, I want to work on that and push myself to read some more, especially as my TBR pile is mounting up.

14: Take a trip to a log cabin

A log cabin has always been something I want to do, especially one with a hot tub.

Hopefully before my 30th, or even for my 30th I can sort out a log cabin stay with some friends.

15: Visit a cat café

Cat cafes are so fun! and as a cat person I love going and just sitting as the cats roam around.

I have been to one once and I loved it, so it would be nice to go again.

16: Go to an upscale restaurant

I love eating out at restaurants, it’s nice to go out and have some good food but I’ve never really been to a fancy upscale restaurant.

So, that’s something I want to do before I turn 30. I’m not sure where yet, but I’ll actively be looking at some in Glasgow or Edinburgh to see where takes my fancy the most.

17: Buy a designer item

I have always wanted to own a Vivienne Westwood or Alexander McQueen bag!

I just adore the styles so I would really like to get myself a designer item from one of them. It would be nice to treat myself to a luxury item.

18: Go to a gig

I’ve been to many, many gigs in my lifetime, but I haven’t gone to one in a few years sadly.

It would be great to go to one or a few before I turn 30. I have a group of friends who love to go to gigs as well and I’m sure they would be up for planning a few gig nights.

19: Save £1000

From a purely practical standpoint, I think saving £1000 in my rainy day bank account would be a great idea.

Just in case anything happens.

20: See a live comedy show

I’ve actually never been to a comedy gig sober, it’s always been a last minute thing where there have been tickets left to buy at the venue for that night and honestly, I don’t remember them all that well.

So, I would really like to go to one and enjoy the night, one that I can remember haha.

21: Buy the Canon 90D

My camera is on the brink, it’s not been working too well and it’s driving me round the bend.

I’ve had my eye on the Canon 90D for a while now so I would love to be able to buy myself it before my 30th. It’s worth investing in yourself isn’t it?

22: Host a dinner party

Hopefully I’ll have bought a house before my 30th and if that’s the case, I would LOVE to host a dinner party for some of my friends.

Cooking is one of my passions but currently I don’t do it enough and it’s always been a dream of mine?

I’m not sure dream is the right word but I have always wanted to host a dinner party.

23: Adopt a cat

I’m a cat person through and through. I adore those furry little babies and after Teddy passed away I have been feeling a hole in my heart that I know will never be filled.

Teddy was my everything, he was by my side for 19 years and it’s strange not having him around.

Although I’ll never replace him or fill that gap, I have so much more love to give and I think giving a cat a forever home would be special.

24: Cook more

As I’ve said above, I don’t cook as much anymore even though I love doing it.

So, I’m planning on cooking a lot more from scratch, even if it is only a meal for myself.

My son is the fussiest eater ever so it would only be for me unless I’m cooking eggs and chips haha.

25: Dance in the rain

Dancing in the rain sounds fun doesn’t it? I know I used to do it all the time as a child so it would be nice to go back to that.

I miss having that playful side show through and now that we are getting into autumn which means lots of rain here in Scotland, I’m sure I’ll get this ticked off in no time.

26: Build a blanket fort

Much like dancing in the rain, building a blanket fort is something I loved to do as a child.

We have built a few over the years with little bear, but it’s not something we do as often. I would love to create one and spend the day playing and watching movies with little bear.

27: Make a time capsule

Time capsules are such a great idea aren’t they? It’s perfect for opening up in so many years time and looking back.

My plan is to create one with little bear that we can open up when he’s 30 and look back at the fun memories and such.

28: Double my social media following

This is one that I would love to achieve for my blog. It would be nice to double my social media following but it’s not a major one that I’ll be upset if I don’t achieve.

I guess I want to set myself this goal so I can work on taking my blog to new heights.

29: Start dressing how I want to

Over the years I have changed my style so much. From being a teen and showcasing my personality with clothes to feeling like I have to dress a certain way because 1, I’m a mum and 2, I don’t feel confident enough.

Now that I’m at a stage where I’m starting to say f**k it, I think it’s about time I stop worrying about what others will think and start doing what I want because I want to.

30: Stop being a people pleaser

I’ve always been a people pleaser. The first thing on my mind is how other people feel or what they think which has gotten me in positions where I’m not happy or I feel like I’m not being true to myself.

So, I’m saying no more and starting to put my wants and needs first for once. I have to speak up, I have to for my own sanity.

And that’s my 30 before 30 bucket list! I’m excited for this next year of my life to take charge and fully go for it. As the year goes on I’ll be ticking off the ones I achieve and hopefully this time next year I’ll be doing an update post talking about everything I’ve managed to achieve.

What’s on your bucket list?

  10. Great post.

I love the idea of a solo hotel stay. I’ve stayed in a log cabin with a hot tub. It’s expensive but so lovely. You can find some lovely glamping pods with bathroom facilities & hot tubs included.

    Xx

  11. Good luck with everything!! I love that this is a good mix between fun and practical, and things that you 100% want as well as a few you wouldn’t be too bothered if they didn’t. I would also have a fair few of these on my list. 29 really stuck with me though, I feel like we all put so much effort into our appearance as a form of self expression when we’re younger and for one reason or other that slides. Lately, I’ve been thinking more about how I’d like to go back to that and be more ‘me’ again too x
