Celebrating my 6 year blogging anniversary

Celebrating my 6 year blogging anniversary!
6 years of blogging! It’s amazing how quick these years have gone. But on the same hand, I feel like I’ve been doing this forever.
I can’t imagine life without my blog now. It’s a huge part of who I am and it feels natural to settle down and write posts.
When I first started blogging I never imagined I would be at this stage. To be honest, I didn’t know if I would stick to it, if I would actually stick to something.
Here I am though, 6 years later and absolutely loving being part of the blogging community and having my own little corner in the Internet.
I’ve been through many phases with my blog from parenting to strictly reviews but I never really felt complete with sticking to one path.
Branding as a lifestyle blog that covers an array of topics feels more real, it encompasses everything I enjoy writing about and I don’t have to pigeonhole myself with a specific niche.
Over the years
Over the past six years I’ve found myself going through a mix of emotions when it comes to my blog. As much as I love it, there’s been times where I felt like giving up and throwing in the towel.
There’s been many reasons for this such as family life, starting college, taking on other projects and just falling out of love with where my blog was going.
There has been one constant though and that’s my love of writing. I enjoy getting cosy in bed and writing down my thoughts. My more personal posts seem to be my favourite, those and the mental health ones plus self care posts are what really make me happy.
I’m not saying I loath any other topic I write about, in fact, I enjoy writing about all sorts of topics. But it’s those posts that help me get lost in a different world, forgetting about what time is because I’m truly in the moment.
A trip down memory lane
Throughout all my years of blogging I’ve written over 500 posts. I know that may not seem like a lot to some, but to me I feel so accomplished because I’ve actually stuck to it.
Blogging has been an amazing outlet for me to be celebrating my 6 year blogging anniversary feels a little surreal.
My mind has been blank on how I could celebrate it, so I thought taking a trip down memory lane and looking back at some of my favourite posts would be good.
Why I like to be positive
This was a hard post to write. I was terrified of opening up about my younger years and what I’ve been through because I know that when this happens, all those details can come into question.
Growing up was tough. Sure, in the grand scheme of things I did have a good childhood. I was loved fiercely, there were lots of day trips, memories made that I’ll treasure forever and I’m lucky that I had such strong role models in my life.
That doesn’t negate the fact that there was a lot of turmoil in my family though.
I experienced abuse from a young age as well as death and nothing ever prepared you for that. Writing this post those was cathartic for me though, I got to express a lot of feelings and talk about events that I never worked through.
It’s still scary having it public, but I thought it was important to share for anyone else who may be experiencing something similar and to show that life can get better.

15 thoughts women have on their periods
When I first wrote this post I was an absolute mess with PMS symptoms and I just had to get those thoughts down in writing.
Little did I know that when I published this post that a lot of other women felt the exact same. It’s comical now, but at the time I was completely fed up with periods, much like I am right now haha.
This is still one of my favourite posts and I enjoy that I still hear stories from other who feel it as well.

The Ultimate blogging planner
Starting my own business was hella scary! I’m still so nervous about it if I’m honest, but bringing out my own digital products is something I’m incredibly proud of.
I worked on this planner for months and months, scrutinising every little detail. So when it was finally really into the world I felt a sense of accomplishment and I’m still over the moon with the response I had.
Writing a blog post that featured my own products was huge for me, so it will always have a special place in my heart.

Women are not your property
After countless men putting their hands on me and seeing similar stories from others I just had to write this post. As a woman it’s terrifying being approached by men and having them feel like they have some sort of claim on my body.
Even now in 2021 we still have a huge problem with women being assaulted, sexually and otherwise, so I feel it’s still incredibly relevant.
I hate that as a society we haven’t move forward much because I still see tweets daily from people who have been assaulted or worse, murdered by men.

12 ways to show yourself love
As someone who is on a journey of self discovery and love, I’m still referring to my own post to remind myself that I too deserve to show some love to myself.

So, I couldn’t help but wrote a post with some simple and easy ways that we can all show ourselves love.

The Girl That Lied
Opening up about being raped when I was 14 was hella scary. I knew it was time to speak my truth but writing the post took a while.
Every time I opened the daft to continue writing I would shake. Reliving those memories was hard, I felt sick to my stomach but I knew it would be worth it.
When it happened to me I was lost, I didn’t know what to do or where to turn, so in writing my story for all to see I wanted to reach out to all those out there who have been through something similar.
To show them that they are sadly not alone but that they are survivors, warriors and it’s not your fault.

In many ways, blogged has saved me
Blogging had taught me many things. I’ve improved on skills, kept going when I felt like giving up and achieved something with it.
It’s no longer just a hobby, but a passion, a job and I love doing it. Who knew that in 2015 I would be sitting here in front of my mac celebrating my 6 year blogging anniversary.
I’m proud of my accomplishments. I’ve worked with some amazing brands, collaborated with other creatives, made awesome friends and found something that I genuinely enjoy.
So here’s to the Blogging community.
To the ones who have been here since day one and those of you who are new. Without the support and sense of community I don’t think I would still be running my blog.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for sticking around, for reading what I have to say and supporting me.
