Lush Big Blue Bath Bomb: The Best Relaxing Bath Bomb

Lush Big Blue Bath Bomb: The Best Relaxing Bath Bomb [Updated for 2026]
The Big Blue Bath Bomb from Lush has been a favourite of mine for almost 18 years, and it’s still going strong in 2025.
I’ve always adored it for its beautiful mermaid like blue water, refreshing scent, and ultimate relaxation vibes.
It’s one of those bath bombs I reach for when I need to feel safe, happy, and calm.
First Impressions of the Big Blue Bath Bomb
I first discovered the Big Blue Bath Bomb in thr Lush Sauchiehall Street store nearly 19 years ago, and it was love at first sight!

The vibrant blue sphere, topped with white and speckled with arame seaweed, completely stole my attention.
These days the design is much the same, but now has a hexagon side which makes it sit much better.
The bath bomb doesn’t roll off surfaces now, making taking photos ALOT easier.
I also remember its “call of the ocean” effect that drew me in that day, I was OBSESSED with mermaids at 12-13 years old.
OK, I still like them but at that awkward teenage stage, they were part of my personality lol *cringe!*.
For me this bath bomb totally fit the open ocean serenity vibe upon first look and I’ve been buying it ever since.
It’s definitely one of my favourites.
The Scent: Fresh and Uplifting
The smell of the Big Blue Bath Bomb is unmistakable.
It’s fresh, clean, and instantly reminiscent of a relaxing sea paradise.
Lush really nailed the fragrance to combine the relaxing scent with the fresh open water.
With key ingredients like sea salt, lavender oil, lemon, and arame seaweed, it delivers a soothing yet uplifting aroma.
The scent lingers in the air long after the bath too which I just adore. It’s not overpowering and strikes a nice balance so you don’t feel overwhelmed.
Watching Big Blue Work Its Magic

Although I adore the scent, in the water is where it really shines.
When you drop the Big Blue Bath Bomb into the water, it floats and fizzes beautifully.
It slowly spins around the bath, releasing waves of turquoise and white foam.
The seaweed begins to soften in the warm water, and the scent fills the air.
I love watching it fizz away, releasing bursts of happiness as it goes.
Unlike some bath bombs that vanish in seconds, Big Blue lasts long enough for you to really enjoy the show.
Skin Benefits and Relaxation
After using the Big Blue Bath Bomb, my skin always feels so soft, smooth, and refreshed. The sea salt works as a gentle exfoliator, while the oils help to hydrate.
This bath bomb is said to help boost your moon and promote relaxation.
I can definitely vouch for the calming effect, I always step out of the bath feeling chilled.
It’s like pressing pause on the world for a while.
The Seaweed Situation
Now for the part everyone asks about, the arame seaweed.
It doesn’t dissolve, so yes, you do need to clean it out after.
Can I be bothered cleaning up the seaweed afterwards?
Honestly, never.
But, I found a bath hack that helps!
Bath Bomb Hack
If you want to avoid the seaweed situation, try using a small mesh laundry bag.
I’ve done that a couple of times when I can’t be bothered with the mess and using the plug catcher.
But, I’ll be honest, for a bath bomb that has been my comfort product for nearly two decades, cleaning out the tub is a small sacrifice.
My Thoughts in 2025
Nearly two decades later, the Big Blue Bath Bomb still feels like a little piece of bath time magic.
The scent is slightly more subtle than I remember from years ago, but it’s still gorgeous.
Every time I use it, it feels like coming home in a weird way.
For me, it’s more than just a bath bomb, it’s a comfort ritual.
It’s the product I turn to when I need a moment of peace, a hint of nostalgia, and water so blue it could belong to a tropical beach.
Final Thoughts on the Big Blue Bath Bomb
If you love ocean inspired scents, calming baths, and stunning blue colours, you need to try the Big Blue Bath Bomb.
It’s been one of my ride or die favourites for years, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
Just be ready for the seaweed though, because trust me, it’s worth every bit of cleanup.

I have a confession to make, I have never tried a lush bath bomb before. I know I am regretting it already, a friend got me one recently but I only have a shower and no tub so need to wait until I visit my parents to use it. This seems like a really lovely bath bomb
