Revamping My Room to Create Bedroom Goals

For a while now I’ve been dreaming of a Pinterest worthy room, one that shows my style all through. I did decorate my room a while back but it was a quick over haul instead of actually doing what I wanted but that’s all changed.

I spend quite a lot of time in my room, it’s my safe zone where I’m 100% comfortable and can work away. It’s the first thing I see when I wake up and the last thing I see at night. So, I really wanted to create a space that impacted my mood in a positive way as I am doing a lot of work on myself. My thoughts going into this was a feature wall, new paint, new bed side tables but what I ended up with was a full do over. I ended up Revamping My Room to Create Bedroom Goals.

At first I wasn’t planning to do a blog post on this overhaul but after going through the process, I really wanted to share my room journey as I’m so in love with how it looks. As I wasn’t planning it at first please excuse the pictures of the “Before”, these were simply taken so I could personally see the difference so they are the only ones I have of how my room kinda looked.

I have a double room, it’s a good size as I can fit everything I need nicely (there is another part of my room but it’s not visible in these before pictures). My room used to be very mismatched with the furniture style but over the last two years I’ve been buying new pieces like my tv stand, desk and a bed side table. The process was going really slow and it bummed me out a little but obviously without the funds, I couldn’t do much. Now that I’m financially stable again I thought it was high time I just take the plunge and get it all done.

My planning process took a month or so. I started by looking for wallpaper and I wasn’t settling until I found THE ONE and thankfully I did one day when I was in B&M. I took a sample home and it was perfect, exactly what I wanted so I looked on their website and could find it, I went back into store and there were only 2 rolls left which wasn’t enough to do my wall, I needed 4 so I looked everywhere online and came across it on Littlewoods. It was more expensive at £21.99 a roll but that didn’t bother me as I knew I had to have it. So I clicked buy and a few days later the paper arrived. Now that I had the wallpaper I had to get some paint. I had no idea what colour I wanted, stay white? Or go a grey colour? I eventually settled on a grey but couldn’t see a colour I wanted, they were either too dark or too light so the search continued until about 4/5 days before I started the decorating and I saw a grey that was perfect, obviously I bought it!

My wallpaper was sorted, my paint was sorted so what now? I couldn’t keep the bed, it wouldn’t match as it was black and it was broken. I hate to admit it as it’s a little embarrassing but books were holding one side up as it completely broke haha. It was a terribly made bed but it was the first one I ever bought for myself when in was around 18. After searching and searching I couldn’t find anything, there was a velvet crushed style one that was stunning but it was £900 odd and I was not paying that much, I’m not that rich lol. But again, Littlewoods came to the rescue when I spotted a stunning grey double bed with a gorgeous head board. It looked lovely on the website but in person it looks even better. Granted it was just under £400 so still a bit dear for me but I just went for it, I had to.

Now that was out the way I thought I was done but NOPE! I saw this beautiful side table in B&M, I ideally would have bought two to keep it even but again their website didn’t have this so I just got the one, better than none right? And whilst I was in there I spotted a light shade for my main bedroom light, not something I was planning on replacing but I’m glad I did as it was a black shade I had before.

I got all of that but something was still missing to tie everything together and one night on Argos I was browsing, looking for a chair to use at my desk when I came across these absolutely gorgeous side lamps! I instantly fell in love with them and there was an offer of 2 for £15, I had to buy.

I am so in love with my room now, it’s a place where I can relax, work and just feel content now without looking around picking holes in everything making me feel worse about the state of it. I’m so happy I got it all done, now I’m proud to show my room off. There are some things that I still have to get but I have to give my bank a bit of a break haha but next up is new flooring. I’m going for grey wood and getting rid of the brown wood I have that’s covered in paint, nail varnish, rips and more! I’ve had this flooring since we moved in and when I was younger I didn’t care about keeping it good, it wasn’t a thought in my mind but now I’m older I’m more conscious of it and it needs redone. I also want to get some new bedding sets that will fit in with my new colour scheme, a new chair for my desk (if you have any recommendations hit me up as I’m at a loss the now) and then maybe a big canvas of Little Bear for my wall.

This has been a rough journey with my room and trying to figure out what I want but I’m glad it’s done (for now) and when it’s 100% complete I’ll be so happy.

And there you have it, Revamping My Room to Create Bedroom Goals.
