Full Review of Smooth Appeal Wax: Is It Worth Buying?

Hair removal has never been more talked about than it is now, right?

Everywhere you look, someone’s trying a new razor, wax or laser treatment.

But, finding what works for you can be a tricky process.

That’s where Smooth Appeal Wax comes in!

They are an affordable at home wax range that promises salon smooth skin without leaving the house.

I tested three products from Smooth Appeal Wax, each designed for different areas and spoiler alert: some impressed me more than others.

Let’s dive into what worked, what didn’t, and whether Smooth Appeal Wax is worth your money, shall we?

What Is Smooth Appeal Wax?

Smooth Appeal Wax is an at home hair removal range that’s been around for years.

It’s well known for being beginner friendly and affordable while still giving you salon quality results at home.

The brand offers facial wax, microwave formulas, and full body options.

Smooth Appeal Original Formula Facial Wax Review

First up, let’s look at the Smooth Appeal Wax Original Formula Facial Hair Remover.

In the box, you get:

  • 2 wax tablets
  • An aluminium pot
  • Wooden spatula
  • And clear instructions.

To use it you simply heat one tablet on the hob until melted, then apply and peel it off, no strips necessary!

The first time I used it, I was quite nervous if im honest. I’d never done this kind of at-home wax before, and my poor gran was my test subject haha.

The wax took longer to heat than I expected, but that gave me some time to make sure that it wasn’t too hot.

Once it was ready, the texture felt smooth and spread quite easily.

The peel-off part was so satisfying as well! I loved seeing all the come off.

Throughout my gran barely flinched and she even said it was less painful than getting her eyebrows waxed. That’s a total win in my book.

Cleanup was simple

Because Smooth Appeal Wax peels off cleanly, it doesn’t stick everywhere which I liked. I had accidentally dropped a few bits on the worktop, but thankfully they lifted straight off.

No scrubbing, no sticky disaster.

Results

After use, her upper lip looked hair free and felt so soft.

I even tried a patch on myself to see how easy it was solo. It worked beautifully. I’d call this formula beginner-friendly and ideal for anyone testing out Smooth Appeal Wax for the first time.

Smooth Appeal Microwave Formula Facial Wax Review

Next up, I tried the Smooth Appeal Wax Microwave Formula Facial Hair Remover.

I decided to test this one on our underarms, since our faces were already smooth from the first round.

At first glance, this one seemed much easier. Simply pop it in the microwave and go. But in practice, it was a bit trickier.

Trial and Error

The heating time for this one took some trial and error.

I had to microwave it longer than suggested because it didn’t melt enough at first.

The instructions were clear but needed more flexibility for different microwaves.

Also, my kit didn’t include a spatula unfortunately, which made things messy.

Luckily, I was able to reuse the one from the original set.

Results

Once it had melted, it applied super easy to my gran’s underarms.

When taken off it removed most hairs in one go, and the result looked so clean and smooth.

Doing it on myself however gave me a bit more trouble, but it was possible I was using the wrong technique.

Some hairs stayed behind, and I ended up with wax absolutely everywhere.

Thankfully, it wiped off easily with warm water.

While this wasn’t my favourite formula, I think with practice it could work well. It just takes patience to get the consistency right.

Verdict

The Smooth Appeal Wax Microwave Formula gives decent results but isn’t as foolproof as the original version.

If you’re new to waxing, I’d start with the stovetop one first.

Smooth Appeal Microwave Formula Water Soluble Wax for Legs and Body

Now for my favourite of the bunch, the Smooth Appeal Wax Microwave Formula Water Soluble Wax for Legs and Body.

This one came with:

  • A tub of wax
  • Reusable wax strips
  • And a spatula

Even before heating, the wax looked smooth and ready to go, which made the whole process a lot easier.

After microwaving it, the wax became super silky and was easy to apply.

I applied it in small sections on my legs, reusing each strip up to three times.

That felt like such good value as they weren’t a once and done strip.

The wax also spread evenly, gripped the hairs well, and pulled out most in one go.

Pain wise it was surprisingly mild. It felt.more like a quick pinch and then it was gone. Honestly, it felt just like a salon treatment, only cheaper and more relaxed.

My legs looked super glossy and smooth with barely any leftover hairs.

Cleanup was also a dream.

Because it’s water soluble, any spills came off instantly.

I used an old shower curtain as a floor cover, which saved me from sticky floors and angry family members.

The best part though? My legs stayed smooth for over a week and a half!

This formula also contains a hair growth retardant, which helps to keep regrowth finer and slower.

Verdict

The Smooth Appeal Wax for Legs and Body is an absolute winner in my book!

It’s easy, effective, and mess free.

It really is ideal for anyone who wants salon-style results at home.

Smooth Appeal Wax Tips for Perfect Results

If you’re new to at-home waxing, there are a few simple things to make your Smooth Appeal Wax experience smoother (pun intended).

Before waxing:

  • Clean and dry your skin completely.
  • Trim longer hairs slightly for better grip.
  • Warm the wax gradually to avoid overheating.

After waxing:

  • Avoid hot baths, saunas, or tight clothes for 24 hours.
  • Don’t use perfumes, deodorants, or fake tan right after.
  • Always soothe the area with a calming product like aloe vera or lavender.
Best soothing products to try:
  • Aloe vera gel
  • Tea tree balm
  • Lavender or chamomile lotion
  • Any natural, unscented moisturiser

These little steps keep your skin soft, happy, and irritation free.

Is Smooth Appeal Wax Worth Buying?

After trying all three products, I can confidently say that Smooth Appeal Wax offers great value for money.

Each formula has its quirks, but the results speak for themselves.

It’s a great option for anyone who wants control, convenience, and consistent results.

Final Thoughts on Smooth Appeal Wax

To sum up my thoughts, Smooth Appeal Wax has definitely earned a spot in my beauty routine.

It’s affordable, effective, and surprisingly fun once you get the hang of it.

If you’re looking for a reliable at-home waxing kit that actually delivers on smoothness and ease, this brand is worth every penny.

I love the sound of the wax you can melt on the hob, I imagine that would be much easier as you can see how it's going and also the water soluble wax looks really good. 5. I have only recently started waxing, I had my first one done professionally yesterday! I think I would want a little more experience before I tried home waxing, as I'd be terrified of messing it up! It's great to hear that the leg kit was so easy to use and that the results were akin to a professional treatment, I'm really impressed! I'll be investing in these when I get a bit more confident!

  7. These are so cool but I could never wax myself at home. I much prefer going to a salon to get it done. Glad some of the products worked well for you and your gran 🙂
