Then you’ve come to the right place!
With so much choice out there it can be hard finding something to watch in a reasonable amount of time.

But it’s rather annoying isn’t it?
Well maybe it doesn’t have to be for you! I’ve put together this list of 11 documentaries that I highly recommend.
I’ve personally watched each of these documentaries and docuseries, and enjoyed them all.
Hopefully you’ll find just what you’re looking for in this line up.

11 Documentaries You HAVE to Watch this month
All of the recommendations on this list are available to watch on Netflix as of 2025, apart from Kill Thy Neighbour.
Kill Thy Neighbour is no longer available to watch on Netflix.

Audrie & Daisy
- Type: Documentary
- Runtime: 1h 38m
- Age Rating: 15
- Themes: Sexual Assault, Crime, Child Sexual Assault
Synopsis
“In this heart-breaking documentary, two teens are cruelly cyberbullied after learning that sexual assault crimes against them were caught on camera.”
My thoughts
Such a heart breaking watch, yet important. It highlights just how awful society can be and the victim blaming mentality that I still very present in everyday life.
My heart completely broke for the women spoken about in this documentary and at time I wanted to reach through the screen and ring some peoples necks. I was especially taken aback by a police officer who so boldly spoke on camera, STILL blaming victims.

How To Change Your Mind
- Type: Docuseries
- Runtime: 4 Episodes
- Age rating: 18
- Themes: Drugs, Psychedelics
Synopsis
“Author Michael Pollan leads the way in this docuseries exploring the history and uses of psychedelics, including LSD, psilocybin, MDMA and mescaline.”
My thoughts
I found this docuseries extremely enlightening. I’ve always been fascinated with psychedelics, in particular the 70s and 80s where it was booming.
So, this docuseries was a great eye opener. I’m very much of the opinion that we shouldn’t close our minds off to the good in drugs.
I’m not saying everyone should take them up, but rather in a medical setting, with the right research, there’s so much good that can be done.
This docuseries is definitely worth a watch, if for nothing else, then to be more knowledgeable on how these drugs are currently being studied.

Worst Roommates Ever
- Type: Docuseries
- Runtime: 5 Episodes
- Age Rating: 15
- Themes: Murder, Fraud, Violence,
Synopsis
“Violent con artists. Stone-cold killers. These terrifying true stories unveil some of the worst cohabitation experiences one could ever imagine.”
My thoughts
As someone who very much likes all things true crime, I was hooked on this docuseries.
I had no idea about any of these cases until I watched this. Genuinely couldn’t get my head around how any of it was real life and not some show off Netflix. The stories could be plucked from a writers room, that’s how shocking some of them are.
Definitely worth a watch if you’re a true crime fan.

Meet, Marry, Murder
- Type: Docuseries
- Runtime: 26 Episodes
- Age Rating: 12
- Themes: Assault, Murder, Violence, Stalking
Synopsis
“Follow these harrowing true crime cases centered around unsuspecting spouses who fell victim to their dangerous partners.”
My thoughts
Another docuseries that’s worth a watch if you’re into True Crime.
It’s absolutely harrowing listening to the cases and hearing about how love turned so sour. We hear from those nearest and dearest to the victims and get a full picture of life before the crime took place.
I found it interesting particularly because I hadn’t heard of any of the cases prior to this series. There’s a good amount of information put fourth and each episode is interesting in its own right.

Human: The World Within
- Type: Docuseries
- Runtime: 6 Episodes
- Age Rating: 12
- Themes: Medical, Science, Biology
Synopsis
“Cutting-edge science and captivating personal stories collide in this illuminating docuseries about the incredible workings of the human body.”
My thoughts
I really enjoy watching programmes about human anatomy and human nature, so I was intrigued when I saw this series recommended.
It was insightful to watch and I found myself thinking more about the human body and what it can do. There were some parts I feel could have been done better, especially in the ‘specialists’ they had speaking, but it was an enjoyable watch nonetheless.

Our Father
- Type: Documentary
- Runtime: 1h 36m
- Age Rating: 15
- Themes: True Crime, Assault, Abuse of Power
Synopsis
“After a woman’s at-home DNA test reveals multiple half-siblings, she discovers a shocking scheme involving donor sperm and a popular fertility doctor.”
My thoughts
I honestly couldn’t believe what I was hearing when watching this documentary! My jaw was firmly on the floor listening to the children of the disgusting excuse of a Doctor speak.
I can’t quite believe that the sorry excuse of a man got away with everything he did, and for so long. My heart just broke for the children.
Such an eye opening watch.

Abducted in Plain Sight
- Type: Documentary
- Runtime: 1h 30m
- Age Rating: 12
- Themes: True Crime, Grooming, Assault, Abduction
Synopsis
“In this true crime documentary, a family falls prey to the manipulative charms of a neighbour, who abducts their adolescent daughter. Twice.”
My thoughts
Another documentary that had my jaw on the floor.
How do parents LET their child be abducted, TWICE?!
Honestly, I can’t get my head around what I watched nor do I understand the parents thinking during all of it. It’s clear from the get go that something is amiss yet these parents where blind to it?
Sorry, could never be me. But, it made for an intriguing watch.

The Tinder Swindler
- Type: Documentary
- Runtime: 1h 54m
- Age Rating: 15
- Themes: True Crime, Fraud, Deception,
Synopsis
“Posing as a wealthy, jet-setting diamond mogul, he wooed women online then conned them out of millions of dollars. Now some victims plan for payback.”
My thoughts
I found this to be such a fascinating watch because I couldn’t believe these women had been duped as much as they had. I feel incredibly sorry for them, but I also found myself asking, how?
How did they get strung along like they did?
When you’re on the outside looking in, it’s obvious that the man was telling lies. But it’s still a sad story on how this could happen to anyone and you don’t know how you would react until you’re living it yourself.
Most definitely a cautionary tale of the online dating world and people not being who they appear to be.

Kill Thy Neighbour
- Type: Docuseries
- Runtime: 5 Episodes
- Age Rating: 18
- Themes: Assault, Murder, Violence
Synopsis
“Through interviews with law enforcement and victims’ families, this series explores chilling cases of neighbours turning on each other in deadly fashion.”
My thoughts
Another must watch for true crime fans out there. This docuseries tells the stories of people who fell victim to their neighbours, just like the title suggests.
It just goes to show that you never really know someone, not fully. I had never heard of any of these cases before so it was interesting hearing about them.
One thing I will say is the first episode is a little boring and I feel like the story could have been told in a shorter amount of time. But apart from that it’s a decent series and worth a watch.

Web of Make Believe
- Type: Docuseries
- Runtime: 6 Episodes
- Age Rating: 18
- Themes: Fraud, Extremist Beliefs, True Crime
Synopsis
“Conspiracy. Fraud. Violence. Murder. What starts out virtual can get real all too quickly — and when the web is worldwide, so are the consequences.”
My thoughts
I really found this docuseries to be quite eye opening. It dives into the online world and how that spills into real life. There’s different stories each episode and we get to hear from real life people that have been affected.
One thing I liked about this series was the recreations that were made for them so we can get even more insight into what went on. I like that it focuses on the misuse of the internet and show where and how things can go wrong when it’s misused.

My Lover, My Killer
- Type: Docuseries
- Runtime: 6 Episodes
- Age Rating: 15
- Themes: True Crime, Violence, Murder, Domestic Abuse
Synopsis
“This docuseries examines murder cases in which the victims meet tragic ends because of relationships that go very wrong.”
My thoughts
This is another must watch for true crime fans. It reminded me of the docuseries Meet, Marry, Murder which I talked about above, but it focuses on different cases.
We hear from family and friends of the victims and head about what life was like before the crime took place. We also get an insight into the dynamics between the lovers and get an insight into what fuelled the perpetrators to commit their crimes.
A very interest watch and one I’m sure all true crime fans would thoroughly enjoy.
