Invest in some new skincare

With us coming out of winter and our routines and weather changing, now is a great time to revise our skincare routines.

I find that my skin needs to change with the season.

So, I make a point of making sure I switch up my products for my specific needs. That means opting for a lighter moisturiser, more spf based products, deep cleanser, hydrating mist and more.

Investing in the right products is key to glowing, healthy skin.

That’s why I trust in TEMPLESPA to change with the seasons and keep my skin in the best condition it can be.

TEMPLESPA has a huge range of luxury skincare products that are formulated to work in harmony with your skin and target your skin concerns.

Make Time For A Self-care Night

Much like creating a morning routine that will set you up for the day, creating time at night to add in relaxation time is a great way to decompress from the day.

You don’t have to do this every night.

Life will get busy, Lord knows that there’s no way I could have a self-care night every night. But, it’s important we do it at least once a week.

And on the other nights, add in one or two activities that are just for you.

For nights like this, here are some ideas on ways you can practice self-care:

  • Go to bed half an hour early
  • Read a chapter of a book before sleep
  • Watch and listen to some ASMR
  • Listen to a podcast
  • Keep a journal
  • Pick out clothes for the next day
  • Prep your breakfast and lunch for the next day
  • Use a face mask
  • Have cup of camomile tea
  • Watch a movie
  • Workout
  • Listen to an Audiobook on Audible (Try for FREE for 30 days & get a FREE Audiobook of your choice)

What about the dedicated pamper nights where we truly indulge in some me time? Well, for your special self-care night, here are some ideas on what you can do.

One

Put on a relaxing music playlist, lay out your nail polish, skincare items and/or at home Spa items.

Create your own at home Spa night, give yourself a facial, use a face steamer (I highly recommend this StylePro 4-in-1 face steamer, I have it and LOVE it), use foot and hand masks and listen to the relaxing music.

Two

Run yourself a nice hot bath (or have a shower if you don’t have one/like baths), add in some bubble bath and light a few candles.

Maybe use a bath bomb or some bath oils.

Treat your skin to some nourishing skincare items, use a face mask and allow yourself to escape while you relax.

Three

Start off with fresh bedding, have a bath or shower, get into your pyjamas afterwards, dry your hair or get it into a protective style.

Put on your creams, get yourself some water to stay hydrated and watch a movie in bed with your fresh pj’s on and clean skin.

Four

Make yourself your favourite dinner or order in.

Think of this as a date with yourself for the night, showing yourself the love you deserve. Put on your favourite movie or documentary, wear your favourite lounge clothes or pyjamas and relax on the couch.

Allow your body to fully relax and just chill out for the night.

Five

Get your favourite snacks, create a tray with bowls of your favourite sweets, Crisps, Popcorn, Biscuits etc.

Get your room all cosy with blankets and candles, put on a good movie, put in pyjamas and have yourself a solo movie night in.

Get outdoors – Self-Care Activities for Spring

As Spring brings some better weather with it, it’s a great time to get outdoors.

Being outside in the fresh air is good for us in so many ways. It helps refresh us and gets us movies after those winter blues.

With better weather comes more opportunities to get out of the house and do something enjoyable.

It may not sound like your typical self-care, but it can do a lot for our mental and physical health. Getting outside and in nature on walks, runs, outings etc… can be the perfect chance to see friends and loved ones as well.

Going on a group hike or meeting up to take the dogs for a walk is a fantastic excuse to get social again and allows us to connect on a personal level.

I know that when I’m able to see my friends, it helps to boost my mood. It’s also a chance to talk about our feelings and be a listening ear for someone.

Here’s some outdoor activities you could try this spring

  • Outdoor adventure activities such as Go ape
  • Walk with dogs
  • Walk with friends
  • Take up running
  • Go for a hike
  • Take children to play park
  • Visit museum
  • Walk along a beach
  • Visit a farm
  • Go for a bike ride
  • Plan a picnic
  • Go and feed the ducks
  • Take kids puddle jumping
  • Scavenger hunt

Clean your space

A big part of my self-care is keeping my space clean. When my space is clean I’m more likely to feel positive and productive.

And with spring here, it’s only natural we may be thinking about spring cleaning.

I find that having a tidy space allows for me to think about other things as I’m not constantly worried about cleaning up and the to-do list items mounting up.

With this one ticked off I feel like I can conquer anything. It’s strange how having a tidy area allows for our brains to concentrate easier.

So, make a plan to clean your space whether that be a little tidy up to a full blown spring cleaning session.

Make a list of the tasks you want to complete such as doing laundry, dusting, hoovering and more. Once you have your list, try going task by task or room by room.

Don’t think about the ones to come, simply put your energy into each one individually.

Maybe you could put on some music or a podcast while you’re cleaning as I find that always helps time pass by quicker.

Take charge of your physical health – Self-care Activities for Spring

Mental health is a huge topic of conversation when it comes to sharing Self-Care ideas. But, our physical health is just as important as our mental health.

Keeping a good balance between them both means we have a significantly better chance at a happier life.

When our physical and mental health is in a good place, we feel a lot better about ourselves. Oftentimes they work in harmony with each other.

So, as physical health is just as important as our mental health, here are some ideas on how to look after your physical health.

  • Go for a 30 minute walk
  • Opt for the stairs rather than elevator
  • Have 30-60 minutes of activity a day
  • Practice Yoga or Pilates
  • Go to the gym
  • Try swimming
  • Drink more water
  • Eat a balanced diet
  • Get checkups at Dr’s if needed
  • Rest of you are injured
  • Know your limits
  • Keep a diary of fitness
  • Do stretches in the morning and at night
  • If you are on medication, make sure you take it
  • Get enough sleep
  • Practice meditation
  • Cut down on sugar and salt in-take

With the new beginnings of spring, it’s a great time to start looking after your physical health and getting serious about it.

Looking after your health

It may feel daunting not knowing where to start on looking after your body, I’ve just been there myself.

I’ve begun my lifestyle change in order to address my mental and physical health, and it was scary.

But, now that I’ve started, I’m already feeling the benefits. Getting healthier for me is about easing the strain on my body when I’m in a fibromyalgia flare up and help manage my chronic fatigue.

Here are some ways I’m looking after my physical health as someone with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue.

  • Keeping a journal/diary about my lifestyle change
  • Not restricting food
  • Not being hard on myself if I don’t exercise
  • Listening to my body and not pushing myself to burn out
  • Finding an exercise that I enjoy, which is walking for me
  • Not demonising food
  • Not using a scale
  • Get my heart pumping every day for at least 10 minutes
  • Stretching everyday
  • Eating more fruit and vegetables
  • Staying hydrated, 2L of water a day
  • Taking my medication

Create a vision board for your goals

As Spring is known as the season of New beginnings, now is the perfect time to create a vision board for your goals.

Vision boards are great for visualising our dreams and goals that we want to achieve. They help keep those goals at the forefront of our minds and act as a motivator.

By creating a vision board it will help you to reflect on your life and make a plan of action of how you will improve and achieve those goals. Creating one couldn’t be easier either with the likes of Canva or on Pinterest.

Or, you could even get yourself a Cork board to hang in your house and fill it with photos and quotes that reflect what you’re working towards. I personally really like this method as it’s a physical thing I can see and hold. It’s great for visualising your goals.
