7 ways to have a successful day | Guest Post Written by BournemouthGirl

Success is something everyone is aspiring to, no matter what success looks like to you, we all feel better for being successful.

When we accomplish what we set out to do in the morning rewards us with a sense of achievement and a satisfying feeling in the evening.

There are certain practices that will help you to have a successful and productive day without leaving you stressed or exhausted.

Before you start planning a successful day, you need to define what ‘success’ is to you. You need to set your goals. What is going to make your day worthwhile? What is considered an achievement?

These are 7 ways to have a successful day

1. Prioritise Sleep

You can’t expect to feel balanced, happy or even successful when you are running on only a couple of hours sleep. Making sure you have good quality sleep means you can wake up feeling refreshed and motivated.

Sleep promotes cognition and memory, facilitates learning, recharges our mental and physical batteries and helps us make the most of our days.

Lack of sleep impairs your decision making, disrupts your memory and negatively impacts your focus and concentration.

2. Create A Morning Routine

One effective way to set yourself up for a successful day is to create a morning routine. Your morning routine can be as simple as one activity for 5 minutes or several tasks to get you ready for the day. Having a morning routine sets your intentions for the day.

If you have a good start to your day, you are more likely to have a good attitude and seize opportunities that come your way.

Giving yourself a routine each morning will help you succeed by giving you structure to each day.

If you have a busy lifestyle where your routines and days are continuously changing, having the morning structure reduces your feelings of being overwhelmed and levels of stress.

Your morning structure helps you know exactly what to expect. Your morning routine sets the tone for your day, so make it mindful and intentional.

3. Have The Right Attitude

“Positive thinking will let you do everything better that negative thinking will” – Zig Ziglar. Having the right positive attitude is going to enable you to be successful.

Waking up and thinking ‘today is going to be a good day’, is setting the tone and you are far more likely to approach any challenges with a positive attitude.

Having a positive attitude allows you to be more productive at work and around the house. Individuals, who have a positive attitude, regularly set goals and achieve them. They also have far more confidence in their own abilities.

As part of your morning routine, you could use positive affirmations to help you with a successful mindset. If you think you can be successful, then you are already half way there.

4. Do The Most Challenging Or Important Task Of The Day First

Once you have achieved your most challenging or important task and it is out of the way you can move your focus to other tasks. You will feel relaxed or some relief knowing you have that big task out of the way.

When you have completed that task with help you gain momentum early on. It will boost your confidence and you will have the motivation to tackle more tasks on your to-do list.

5. Use To-Do Lists

To-do lists are a great tool to help you improve your organisation and boost your productivity. Having a list of all the tasks you need to do each day, gives your day structure and focus.

Using to-do lists can be incredibly motivating especially when you start achieving and checking off items pushes you to complete more tasks.

Writing a to-do list the night before means at the start of your day you know exactly what you have to do to have a successful day.

6. Move Regularly

Throughout your day, it is important that you have breaks between working on tasks and to move your body. Moving could be a short walk, a quiet moment away from your desk or even some stretching.

When you move your body and give yourself a break helps to refocus and give you a recharge, so that you can take on the rest of the tasks and a new sense of motivation.

Taking movement breaks can also be beneficial when you are stuck on a task often the greatest ideas come when you are moving and away from a screen and a desk.

7. Create A Daily Schedule And Stick To It

It is important to have a daily schedule and as much as possible, to set boundaries around how much time you spend working. Especially if you are a blogger, it is important you allocate time where you are not working.

Having a daily schedule will help you to plan your days/weeks, you are far more likely to be efficient and productive during the times you spend working.

I plan my weeks in my bullet journal which means I start my week knowing exactly what I need to achieve.

It is not realistic to think every day will be a complete success, but it is important to acknowledge the small wins.

If your day doesn’t go to plan instead of dwelling on mishaps or being frustrated at yourself because your day hasn’t gone to plan treat it as an isolated incident.

Learn from the mistakes and start fresh the following day.

These are 7 small changes you can implement to ensure you have a more positive and successful day.

How do you plan for a successful day? I’d love to hear in the comments.
