Taking a Look at My May To-Do List | 2022

Hello May! 5 months into the year already and I’m flabbergasted that it’s almost the summer holidays.

Next month we will be getting ready for the school holidays and making plans for trips away. I’ll be honest, I’m so excited for it.

Going to keep all my fingers and toes crossed for good weather.

My May To-Do List

Have a blog maintenance week

Over the past few weeks I’ve been putting a lot of work into my blog. After feeling like I was at a stand still for a while with content, it’s nice to be full of motivation again.

I’ve been going full force with my blog and trying to improve on it as much as possible. From new plugins to implementing better SEO practices, I’ve been doing it all.

So, because I’m working hard on my blog I want to take some time to focus purley on blog maintenance.

I’ll be carving out a week within May to update older posts, fix broken links, work on design elements and more.

Honestly, I’m very excited to get stuck in and really make some big changes.

Buy myself flowers

Buying flowers for myself is something I like to do quite often. There’s something very special about treating yourself to some.

For me, buying flowers for myself is an act of self love. It’s a way for me to appreciate myself and do something just for me. Plus, they look pretty in my bedroom which always puts a smile on my face.

Plan other half’s birthday

It will be my other half’s birthday on the 5th June so I really need to get some plans underway.

No idea what I’ll plan or what he even wants to do so this is going to be a top priority this month. Also need to think about what to get him present wise.

It feels like he’s already got everything so I’m a bit stumped on that. And normally when I ask him about ideas he says “nothing, I’ve got everything and don’t need anything” so I won’t have any help there.

As much as I enjoy planning events for birthdays and selecting presents, when it comes to S, I feel out of my depth. He’s a simple guy who enjoys simple things, doesn’t like a fuss and is very laid back. So much so that if he was any more laid back he’d be horizontal.

Fingers crossed that I manage to think of something in time and get gift ideas!

Finish off 5 blog posts

Having lots of motivation for my blog and writing lately has been a blessing. I’ve missed feeling that spark of joy and brainstorming ideas.

In April I made lots of notes about topic ideas and posts then began to get them sorted into posts. I have around 9 that are half done as I keep rotating through them. So, my goal is to finish off at least 5 of them.

Hopefully I’ll get them all done, but I’m not putting pressure on myself. That’s when it begins to feel like a chore instead of fun.

Work on Etsy store

In my April to-do list I spoke about giving my Etsy store my all and giving it my all I did!

I began sorting through digital products that were ready to be listed and focused a bit more on marketing. And, I’m happy to report that it worked!

I made 8 sales in April and honestly, I can’t even begin to explain how grateful I am. Feeling very thankful for all the support with my Etsy store and over the moon I’m starting to make sales.

So, I’ll be keeping that momentum in May and giving my Etsy store my all.

It would mean the world if you had a look.

Work on affiliate marketing

As well as working on my blog and Etsy store tirelessly in April, I’ve also been working on affiliate marketing a lot more.

When I was feeling lost with my blog I had no sense of direction when it came to affiliate marketing. It was sort of just there but I made no effort with it. There was no trying, no plan of action and so it went cold so to speak.

But, having been working hard at it, I’ve started to see results again. In April I made £83.64 from it (still to be processed though) and that may not sound like a lot, but it is to me.

Having only been really trying for the past few weeks, I can’t believe how well it’s going.

Create 4 sets of nails

My nail stock is completely empty so I’m panicking at the moment.

I like to wear fake nails constantly as that helps me feel more like myself. It’s an armour of sorts and helps boost my confidence. So having none in my little nail box ready for me to put on fills me with dread.

I buy false nails in bulk from ByVixi on Etsy and then I like to use Gel nail polish that you cure under an LED nail lamp. I’ve been doing this for years now and it’s saved me so much money. Rather than going to a salon to get acrylics done, I make my own at home.

As there’s none made up at the moment, I want to take a night to create at least 4 sets. Although, more would be ideal.

Post Grandpa’s birthday package

It’s my grandpa’s birthday this month and as he lives in Canada, I have to send out his birthday presents.

Normally I’ve already done it by now but things have been a little up in the air and I’ve not been organised. So, I need to get the package made up and sent out.

This is at the top of my to-do list right now because I’m worried it won’t get there in time. I mean, I know it won’t but I don’t want it arriving weeks after.

Currently I’m waiting for some photos to come that I’ve ordered through SnapFish of little bear for him. Every package always has a variety of photos for him so he can see little bear as he grows.

With my grandpa being so far away, I like to make sure he still feels very present in our lives. And hopefully in the near future we can take a trip over to see him.

A Look back at April’s To-Do List

Get on top of Spring Cleaning

I’m very pleased to report that I did in fact get on top of my spring cleaning. I took a few days out to get the house fully gutted out.

I went room by room, and managed to find items for charity and others that needed the bin. It was good getting rid of things no longer needed.

Give my Etsy store my all

Well, I did it. I put so much time and effort into my Etsy store and it paid off. I managed to up my sales and gain feedback!

I’m so proud of myself for sticking this out and I’m incredibly grateful to those who have purchased a product, retweeted my promotional posts and generally supported me. It means the world.

Clear out my Gumroad store

Happy to say that this task is underway. I started it at the end of April but with my son being quite sick it’s taken a back seat.

So, I’m still working on it but glad it’s being done.

Make the most of LB’s two weeks off school

We had a lovely time over the Easter holidays.

There was a trip to the cinema to see The Bad Guys which was really good I thought. We also did lots of crafts, long walks, played games and generally had a good time.

Work on new content

Happy to say that I completely smashed this! My creativity was flowing at the beginning of April so I took advantage of that.

I wrote 14 blog posts, got them formatted, checked over and ready to publish. Some have already gone live in April but there’s still more to come in May.

This is the first time in a long time where I feel like I’m getting my blogging mojo back.

Batch take photos

Yep! Ticked this one off and I’m so glad because I wasn’t worrying about having photos constantly.

I took a couple of days out throughout the month to just take lots of different photos.

Get back on track with my lifestyle change

This is still a little up in the air. Although I’ve gotten back on top of my water intake and moving more, I’ve not done as much as I wanted.

But I’m trying not to let that get me down. Taking it one step at a time right now and I know when I’m ready, I’ll be giving it 100%.
