My Latest Netflix Watch List: From Binge-Worthy to Boring [Updated for 2025]

There’s nothing I enjoy more than settling in for a good old Netflix binge.

It’s my go to way to relax, especially since there’s always something new (or nostalgic) to dive into.

This past week, I decided it was finally time to stop half watching re-runs of Rick and Morty and actually throw myself into some fresh shows and movies.

I was craving something different, something I could really get stuck into.

So, I did a little digging, updated my watch list, and started streaming.

Let’s dive into the list, shall we?

Netflix: What I’ve Watched Lately

Secret obsession – Netflix Original

When I spotted Secret Obsession as a new Netflix Original, I jumped at the chance to give it a go.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Netflix Originals, there’s just something about them that feels a bit more elevated and bold.

It seemed like the perfect pick for a cosy movie night in.

Or at least, that’s what I thought…

Before I dive into my thoughts, quick heads-up: if you haven’t seen it yet and want to go in blind, feel free to skip ahead.

I won’t reveal any major spoilers, but I’d hate to ruin the experience for anyone!

Now, with that out of the way, let’s get into it.

Honestly? I want my two hours back.

This film was rough.

From start to finish, it felt completely thrown together. There were way too many plot holes, random characters appeared with no purpose, and the story just didn’t hold up.

It gave off major “we had a deadline and no plan” energy.

To me, it felt like a filler film, something made purely to bulk up the Netflix library.

You could leave it running in the background and not miss a thing.

It lacked depth, tension, and any kind of emotional payoff.

Big thumbs down from me.

Blown away

I originally clicked on Blown Away while searching for something light to play in the background, just some casual noise to fill the silence.

But to my surprise, I was instantly hooked.

Before I knew it, I’d binged the entire first season in one sleepless night, completely mesmerised.

The show is a reality competition, but unlike most, it skips the unnecessary drama and lets the talent shine.

Watching these incredible glassblowers bring their visions to life was honestly hypnotic.

Now, do I think the right person won?

Absolutely not.

But that didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed it.

The creativity, the skill, the visuals, it all made for such a satisfying and unexpectedly addictive watch.

Queer eye 

Queer Eye has become such a phenomenon that I couldn’t resist jumping on the bandwagon.

Once I start, I have to keep going, I’m definitely not a casual viewer with this one.

I ended up binging a whole season in one go during a really rough fibro flare.

I had the hot water bottle ready, curled up in bed, and even kept watching in the bath.

Honestly, I was glued to my iPad, completely absorbed.

And yes, I cried. A lot. So definitely keep some tissues handy.

I adored every minute.

It’s such an uplifting, empowering show, and the Fab 5 are just as fabulous as ever

Heartwarming, stylish, emotional, it ticks all the boxes.

Murder mystery

As soon as Murder Mystery popped up on my screen, I couldn’t resist hitting play.

I’m a total sucker for Adam Sandler, his movies are my ultimate guilty pleasure.

Sure, I know he’s a bit of a Marmite actor.

A lot of people think his humour is tired and his roles are repetitive… but I grew up watching his films, so I went into this one with some nostalgic bias.

The storyline itself was fun, and I actually laughed out loud a few times.

It’s simple, easy viewing, and sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.

That said, it definitely strayed into over-the-top territory, which bugged me slightly.

But then again, it is an Adam Sandler movie, so that kind of chaos is par for the course, isn’t it?

All in all, I’m glad I gave it a go.

It was a decent one time watch, but not something I’d rush to rewatch.

The Great Hack 

When The Great Hack first showed up on my feed, I wasn’t exactly rushing to hit play.

But after scrolling endlessly and finding nothing else that grabbed me, I figured, why not?

At first, I struggled to get into it.

The beginning felt a bit slow and scattered.

But once it found its rhythm, I was hooked.

I even messaged S mid watch to tell him he had to see it too!

This documentary truly opened my eyes.

The way our data is collected, mined, and manipulated is honestly terrifying.

It’s one thing to read the occasional headline about data breaches, it’s another to see the scale of it unfold like this.

Now, I find myself questioning everything online. It made me realise how much we blindly hand over without thinking twice.

If you haven’t seen it yet, I seriously recommend giving it a watch. It’s a proper eye-opener that stays with you long after the credits roll.

The people vs OJ Simpson

Despite hearing about this series so many times, it honestly never made it onto my must-watch list.

But recently, I’ve been deep into a true crime phase, those obsessive moods where I just can’t get enough of court cases, scandals, and forensic deep dives.

So, while scrolling through Netflix one night, I spotted it and thought, why not?

It’s always being mentioned, so I figured I might as well see what the fuss is about.

At first, I wasn’t fully invested.

I was half-watching while playing games on my phone or getting Little Bear back to bed.

But later that evening, once I was properly settled, the show finally pulled me in.

Even though it’s a dramatised version of real events, it didn’t wow me right away.

The casting didn’t quite click for me, and I found it hard to connect with the characters.

I kept rolling my eyes, but then I realised, wait a minute, I must care at least a little because I was reacting.

I was thinking about the plot, questioning the characters, Googling the real story behind it all.

Before I knew it, I was reading up on the actual trial, the verdict, the jurors, it became a full-on deep dive.

So while the show itself didn’t blow me away, it did what good TV sometimes does: it made me curious, made me think, and ultimately taught me something new.

And for that alone, it was worth the watch.

iBoy

I’ll be honest, iBoy was another title that didn’t immediately scream must-watch to me.

It looked a bit low-budget (not that that’s always a bad thing), but the synopsis piqued my interest just enough to give it a go.

And I’m so glad I did!

From the opening scenes, I was into it.

The gritty style totally suited my taste, and the fact that Maisie Williams was in it?

Total fangirl moment.

It did start off a little slow, but once the plot kicked in, I was fully hooked.

There’s one scene in particular, no spoilers! Where the music builds and the main character walks through this sequence that honestly gave me goosebumps.

It was so well done and really elevated the whole vibe of the film.

The ending? It was fine.

A bit abrupt and left me wanting more, but in a weird way, that worked.

It wrapped up in a way that contradicted my expectations, and I kind of loved that.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one and would definitely recommend giving it a go.

Manhunt: Unabomber

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

I’d heard about the Unabomber before, mostly from crime shows I used to watch with my gran when I was younger.

But as time went on, it slipped from my mind, until I spotted this series on Netflix.

I started watching it on one of those sleepless nights, and wow, it completely hooked me.

Little Bear didn’t even wake up once, so I had zero distractions, a perfect bingeing environment!

Honestly, I think you have to fully immerse yourself to appreciate this series.

It’s not something to watch half-heartedly.

I really loved the main character and the whole linguistics angle they used to catch the killer, it was fascinating.

It reminded me of Criminal Minds with all the behavioural analysis, which is something I find incredibly intriguing.

Most of the time, I was literally on the edge of my seat, desperate for every scrap of information.

I wanted to know everything immediately, but Manhunt played it slow, building tension and keeping me watching every single second.

This series pulled me right in and has now become one of my all-time favourite true crime series.

It was very intriguing

The dynamic between Ted (the Unabomber) and Jim (the profiler who cracked the case) was electric, even though they never actually met.

Ted had no idea who Jim was, but the tension between them was palpable. I found myself longing to see them face to face, desperate for that moment.

I really wanted to put a face to the man behind the crimes, and I genuinely think the series nailed its setup.

The storytelling switched between flashbacks and present day, but it never felt overwhelming or jarring.

Instead, the transitions always connected to what was happening in the moment, which I really appreciated.

This clever editing kept me hooked throughout.

Like with The People vs O.J. Simpson, this show sparked my curiosity to dig deeper and learn more. It was a little disappointing to discover that some parts I enjoyed weren’t actually real, but that didn’t take away from the overall experience.

Now, thanks to Manhunt, I have another criminal case to dive into and obsess over.
