A movie that truly captivated me in 2024 was The Substance.
Released 20th September 2024, this movie is a must watch for anyone who loves horror.
The Substance is a psychological horror/thriller that explores the dark corners of human obsession.
This movie about a scientist whose groundbreaking discovery spirals into a dangerous addiction is gripping and intense.
The Substance will keep you on the edge of your seat, I guarantee it!
I would recommend watching it a couple of times to fully appreciate the ending.

The Wild Robot
Released on 13th October 2024 in the UK, this heartfelt animated movie will tug at your heartstring!

Its a truly wonderful movie that deserves a watch, even if you don’t have children.
Wicked
The beloved Broadway musical leaped onto the big screen with Arianna Grande and Cynthia Erivo staring as Glinda and Elphaba.
This enchanting adaptation explores the untold story of the witches of Oz, giving us a glimpse into life before Dorothy.
5 year old me would be having a fit if I told her that one day her favourite movie would have its story expander into a Broadway show and a movie!
Wicked brings the wonderful story of Elphaba and Glinda to people around the world with its debut movie. With spectacular performances and show-stopping musical numbers, it’s a movie not to be missed.
Fans of the stage production will find themselves bewitched all over again, and feeling that magic spark that makes us love the Oz universe.
I highly recommended it, even if you’re not a musicals, it’s a great story both visually and narratively.

The Fall Guy
This Action/comedy released in the UK on 2nd May 2024 is a thrilling watch!
Offering viewers a thrilling blend of action and humor, The Fall Guy is a must watch.
This story follows a stuntman (Ryan Gosling) who inadvertently becomes entangled in a real-life crime.
Filled with witty dialogue and extravagant stunts, this film delivers an adrenaline rush that action lovers won’t want to miss.
Not only is it action packed, the humour throughout helps to break up the tension, allowing us viewers to digest the story.

Written and co-directed by Kelly O’Sullivan, Ghostlight masterfully blends suspense and emotion, anchored by stellar performances and atmospheric cinematography.
We follow the story of a construction worker and as he takes up a new role in a small local theatre production of Romeo and Juliet which begins to eerily resemble his own life.
Struggling with the suicide of his son, we move through a story that beautifully captures this families journey dealing with grief and secrets.
Ghostlight is a must watch as it’s a masterpiece of cinema, and proves that Independant films can run with the “big dogs” of Hollywood and maybe just outshine some of those big budget productions.

Deadpool & Wolverine
Released 25th July 2024, Deadpool makes a comeback with the best X-Men member of them all, Logan, AKA Wolverine.
As someone who loves both of these iconic characters, this movie was everything I imagined and more!
It follows Deadpool and Wolverine as they reluctantly team up to tackle a formidable new villain threatening both of their worlds.
The humor as usual is spot-on, with Deadpool’s witty banter perfectly balancing Wolverine’s gruff demeanor.
Throughout the action sequences are jaw-dropping, and the chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is *chefs kiss*.
I highly recommend it.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
On 6th September 2024, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hit the screens in the UK with a delightful mix of humor and the supernatural that captured audiences worldwide.
As a fan, I found it to be a thrilling continuation of the quirky world Tim Burton originally crafted.
The movie follows the mischievous Beetlejuice as he returns to wreak havoc in the afterlife and the mortal world, unexpectedly running into Lydia Deetz once again.
Packed with quirky humor and imaginative visuals, this film is a nostalgic ride that’s sure to entertain both new and longtime fans.

Alien Romulus

When we went to see it in the cinema I couldnt help but be captivated by its masterful blend of suspense and action.

The movie’s standout elements include its intense atmosphere, compelling character arcs, and innovative special effects, making it a standout hit and one of the best movies of 2024.
I can’t even begin to explain how much I enjoyed this movie! So, give it a watch for yourself.

Blink Twice
Last but by no means least on my list is the movie Blink Twice.
Released on 23rd August 2024, this movie captivated from the start. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing out on one of the best movies of 2024!
From the moment the opening credits roll, this movie pulls you into a world of suspense and intrigue.
Blink Twice follows tge story of an unsuspecting protagonist who finds themselves entangled in a web of mystery.
After receiving a series of cryptic messages, their journey to the truth begings.
The plot twists will keep you on the edge of your seat, and the stunning cinematography truly dies bring the story to life.
I also have to commend the cast for their outstanding performances, they truly captivate you and draw you into the story.
