Stock Photos

Stock photos can be extremely handy when it comes to blogging. These are essentially ‘Free to use’ Photos but I’ll always advise that you do your research first before taking any photo from a stock photo website.

There are sits out there that allow anyone to upload and don’t check for proper credentials eg, having the rights to the photos and such because there have been instances out there of people using a photo from a stock website and have been sent a invoice for the use.

You can read about one such case here – Photographer faces legal action after using a photo he downloaded from unsplash – So please do your research. There are also stock sites out there like shutter stock that charge and come with a little more security if you are willing to pay but today I am focusing on FREE resources for you all.

Please always pay attention to licensing, read about the website and their policies, do your research! I can’t express that enough because if you don’t you could end up in a sticky situation with no leg to stand on and that’s the last thing that you want.

Photo Editing/Creating

Having apps or websites that you can go to that are free to use make creating awesome images so much easier. There are a few trusty faithfuls that I have and like to use when it comes to editing my photos.

I currently use Lightroom but not the free version so didn’t want to include it in the list but it does deserve a mention, it has made editing photos and transferring them between my phone and the Mac easy. Plus I can use it anywhere, I can edit my photos in real time if needed.

There are other places that I use for creating graphics or photos so here’s my list of sites/apps you can use that will help you with creating awesome photos. I would also recommend using DaFont which is a site where you can download different fonts for free, it’s a great place to go when you want to create a certain vibe including text.

SEO

Dealing with SEO can be a right pain in the neck can’t it? It can feel a little daunting at times, having to get my site into tip top shape, but I do it. I like to keep on top of broken links, I know they can bring your DA/Domain authority down so I like to keep on top of those.

I also like to check in with my DA from time to time, just to monitor it and see if what I am doing is increasing it. If you want more info on DA I actually have a blog post dedicated to Increasing Your DA if you fancy the read.

Managing Social Accounts

Managing different types of social media accounts can feel a little daunting. I tend to get stressed when I have a list of things I’ve got to get done for social media but there are apps I have found that relieve some of that stress, making managing my Social media accounts easier.

Facebook Groups

Facebook is a great way to interact with other bloggers and find opportunities when it comes to PR’s. I have found quite a few opportunities through facebook groups, sometimes people will put out calls looking for people to work with on a range of projects. I also this it’s great for engagement, there are so many threads you can join in with, find new people to connect and grow with.
