I’ve heard so many good things about standing desks and the benefits of using one, so I was very intrigued to give it a go.

Building the E8 Standing Desk
The desk comes in a few parts that require you to build yourself but it’s super easy to do in my opinion.
As I have some chronic illnesses that mean I don’t have the best strength or grip, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to build it myself.
But, I was pleasantly surprised when after 37 minutes the whole desk was built.
I had done it! At that moment I was super proud of myself.
I couldn’t believe how easy it was!
What made it so easy to put together was the fact the instructions were clearly laid out, all parts were there and I didn’t need a barrel of different tools to complete it.
The only part I found a bit tricky to put together though was the cable tray area.
There is a part that goes on over all the wires to keep them hidden underneath the table top and I found the instructions unclear around this part. Eventually I figured it out but I think the instructions could be a little clearer.
When building the desk it’s best to do it upside down with the table top on the floor and then building from there up and then flip the table round when finished.
I will say though that after the desk was built I couldn’t turn it the right way up myself as it’s very very heavy when it’s fully assembled. So I enlisted my other half for some help to get it the right way round.

My Experience Using the E8 Standing Desk
From the moment I started using the E8 standing desk, I was impressed.
Being able to pre-save specific heights for both sitting and standing positions is a fantastic feature meaning I can press the button for which height I want and let the desk do its thing.
With the 120x60cm work space of the table top, it’s the largest desk I’ve ever used. It has plenty of space for all my needs which I like because I don’t feel cramped anymore.
I can fit my mac, keyboard, mouse, desk tidy and sand time on it with plenty of space to spare.
This standing desk also feels really sturdy which I like. You can tell that it’s good quality both in its looks and feel. The table top is very robust and I love that when I’m using the height settings, nothing moves.
It all feels safe which is a surprise because I was worried it would shake and feel like the screen was about to fall over.
What I really love about this desk though is I can be working away on the mac and then if I need to write or deal with paperwork, I can just scoot over. I have a work space big enough to do both now and it’s made such a difference.
Increased productivity
Since I’ve started to use this desk, my productivity has increased tenfold.
I think having a decent space where I can work has meant I’m happier to actually settle down and tackle my to do lists and work. Being able to work both sitting down and standing comfortably has been a game changer.
As I work from home I find that I’m constantly spread thin between seeing to my son, looking after my gran, dealing with the housework, focusing on work and so much more.
So, I use the standing position a lot because this allows me to come into my office, do a few tasks then walk away and focus on something else, then come back to the computer to pick up where I left off.

Would I recommend this desk? Is it worth it?
Yes, yes I would recommend this standing desk. It’s easy to use, very sturdy, lovely design and I genuinely have no faults with it.
Overall it’s a great desk and I think if you spend a lot of time working at a computer, then investing in a standing desk really is worth it.
By using a standing desk it helps to stop your muscles tightening which can happen with prolonged periods of time where you sit. I have also found that it does help with my productivity and strangely enough, it makes taking a break a lot easier as well.
Now I make a point of taking a 5 minute break every so often to walk about, get a snack or a drink or spend 5 minutes in the garden.
I think it’s because when I’m sitting down I get a feeling of “I can’t be bothered moving“, but when I stick to my schedule of standing up every 45 minutes for at least 15 minutes at the desk, I take a break because I’m already up.

All in all I am super pleased with the FlexiSpot E8 Standing Desk.
It’s a dream to use and I love being able to change the height to my needs.
When working from home it can feel like you’re stuck in one place and not able to do much when you have a regular desk, so having one that allows you to choose the height makes a big difference.
