Introducing My Gran, My Rock, My best friend

I’ve spoken about those nearest and dearest to me on the blog like my Eternal Sister, Lisa and Bag man, Ross. So, it’s only fair I introduce you all to my hero, my best friend, the woman I look up to, my wonderful gran.

This woman is literally the best human being you could ever meet, she raised me my whole life and was my mum’s carer. My gran was the backbone of the family and still is, she keeps everyone going, so much so that she forgets to take some “me” time once in a while. My gran always puts everyone first and herself last so it’s no wonder she gets stressed and frustrated as often as she does, but I understand why. Even through the stress she manages to keep a smile on her face and everyone feeling loved. How she manages it I don’t know.

This woman got me through the death of my Uncle Jon who was like a father to me basically and the death of my mother, then the death of my great granddad (her dad).

While I was suffering and trying to pull my life together, she was right beside me, guiding me and never taking time to grieve herself, she was strong, strong for me when I should have been thinking about her as well instead of going off the rails a little. She has been there for me through everything and for that I can’t thank her enough. I love her more than you could ever imagine and when she passes away, I know I’ll be a complete and utter wreck.

She has a great sense of humour

I would give my last breath for my gran and I know she would do the same for me. We are so close, closer than ever now and I can honestly say she is my best friend. Throughout my life all my friends have adored my gran, probably because she feeds them so much ha-ha, she is definitely a feeder, is she even a gran if she doesn’t?

My gran is always welcoming and humble, she’s down to earth, funny, loves to sing and never misses a beat. She may be a little older in years, but her heart is still as vibrant as ever. My grans heart is huge, she loves completely, gives willingly and never holds a grudge.

My Hero? it’s my gran hands down. She’s the strongest, most loving, kindest person I know, and I am lucky to call her my gran. She deserves the world and then some. I just hope that one day she finally sees in herself what I see in her.
