2025 Update: SmashBurger Glasgow is no longer open sadly.

You can find SmashBurger at the following Locations:

Bath, Brighton, Cambridge, Dunfermline, Milton Keynes, Newcastle and Wednesbury.

SmashBurger Glasgow Preview Event – First Impressions and Honest Review

On Wednesday 18th October 2017, Katie and I went along to the preview opening of Smashburger in Glasgow.

I was eager to see what the food would be like, how the prices compared, and of course, what the overall vibe of the place would be.

First Impressions of SmashBurger Glasgow

When we arrived, Smashburger was buzzing with energy!

The atmosphere was fantastic and the layout of the restaurant instantly caught my eye.

We were greeted with a warm smile by staff and shown to our seats, where the menu and ordering process was explained clearly.

SmashBurger Glasgow Restaurant Layout

The layout of Smashburger Glasgow is fantastic.

There’s plenty of seating both upstairs and downstairs, so even during busy times, you should be able to find a spot.

If you prefer to eat on the go, they also offer takeaway. With their fast cooking times, you won’t be waiting long for your food, making it a great option for a quick bite in the city.

Ordering at SmashBurger Glasgow

The ordering system is really straightforward.

You can either pick from one of their signature burgers from the menu or build your own from scratch.

I decided to go for the build your own option, which meant I could get exactly what I wanted without any fuss.

The menu is packed with so many tempting choices though, including veggie burgers!

Because of so much choice, I actually had a hard time narrowing down exactly what to try.

But in the end, I went for a regular beef burger on a smashbun with smoked applewood bacon, lettuce, and mayo.

For my side, I opted for classic fries, and a freestyle drink which is unlimited refills from their drinks machine.

Katie chose the crispy chicken smash stack with SMASH sweet potato fries and a freestyle drink.

Food Quality and Speed of Service

The food arrived in around five minutes, which was seriously impressive.

You might think with that speed, the quality would be affected but that wasn’t the case at all!

Tucking into my burger was genuinely the highlight of the visit.

I mean it when I say It was one of the tastiest burgers I’ve had in a long time.

The burger was cooked to perfection, full of flavour, and the meat was juicy and delicious.

Katie also loved her chicken burger too, and the sides were just as good as the mains!

The food was *chefs kiss* for sure.

Cleanliness and Facilities

If you’ve read my previous restaurant reviews, you’ll know I always check out the toilets.

For me, clean toilets are a sign of good overall standards.

The toilets at Smashburger Glasgow were spotless, bright, and airy, with a good amount of space.

They also have a disabled toilet downstairs, which is always great to see.

Overall, they get the seal of approval from me!

A Small Negative

The only downside to the day was a small moment while ordering.

I thought Katie and I had to order together for the table number, so when she went to another staff member, I tried to get her attention.

When I explained, the woman serving her rolled her eyes at me.

It made my anxiety spike, and she seemed annoyed for no reason.

I’m putting it down to preview-day stress because every other staff member was friendly, welcoming, and attentive.

Hopefully this was a blip.

Final Thoughts on SmashBurger Glasgow

Overall, my experience at Smashburger Glasgow was a huge success.

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lively, and the service (aside from one blip) was excellent.

I’ll definitely be going back as I’m keen to try it again for a casual meal with my son.

Smashburger Glasgow has serious potential, and I recommend giving it a try if you’re in the area and want a burger that really hits the spot.

  2. Ooo I’ve never tried Smashburger, I don’t even think we have one round here, closest might be Bluewater or London! Doesn’t having bacon just make your burger all that much better?! The meatier the burger the better haha! Glad you both liked it but boo to the rude staff member xx

  3. I must admit that I'd never heard of this place before seeing it featured on the Bloggers Tribe Instagram story, and boy did that leave me feeling hungry! I love the idea of building your own burger, as a vegetarian I often find that the accompaniments to a veggie burger in restaurants are often quite uninspired, so being able to select your own is wonderful! Such a shame about the service whilst ordering not being the best, you would've thought they'd be out to impress on their preview day!Abbey ✨
