There’s just something magical about rom-com movies that perfectly capture the essence of love, laughter, and those fluttery feelings that make Valentine’s Day so special.
Now, I’m very much a horror girlie which you’ll know if you’ve read any of my previous movie posts.
But, I am a HUGE sucker for rom-com movies, and couldn’t help but share some of my favourites.

No matter what you’re planning, whether that be a date night with your loved one watching movies, or a solo movie night snuggled up, there’s something on this list for everyone!
I’ve compiled a list of the best romantic comedy movies to watch this Valentine’s Day and all movies are available for streaming on popular platforms like Amazon Prime.
1. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
One of the quintessential 90s rom-coms, this modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” is a fabulous mix of humor and romance.
Starring Heath Ledger (RIP) and Julia Stiles, it’s a must-watch classic that never goes out of style.
It also happens to be one of my favourite movies!

2. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018)
A movie that captured the hearts of many when it first hit our screen, and continued to do so with each film there-on!
Available to watch on Netflix, this teen rom-com has a sweet storyline, depth and relatable characters who are also flawed.
It’s perfect for a light-hearted evening filled with nostalgia and young love.
3. The Proposal (2009)
Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds deliver hilarious performances in this light hearted comedy about a fake engagement that turns into something more.
It’s a movie that’s perfect if you’re looking for a little sass, some humour and most of all, a predictable love story that still warms our hearts.

4. When Harry Met Sally (1989)
No Valentine’s Day movie list would be complete without this iconic film, would it?
When Harry Met Sally is well known for its witty dialogue, adult humour and characters that you can’t help but root for.
A classic that many still adore today that’s perfect for some will they/won’t they tension.

5. Love, Simon (2018)
This coming of age story about a teenager’s journey to self-acceptance is both touching and humorous.
Not only a rom-com, but also a touching exploration of friendship, family, and the universal desire to be loved for who we are.
Adapted from Becky Albertalli book of the same name, this film balances humor and emotional depth perfectly.
I also love the queen representation on screen, a must watch for sure!

6. Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)
Renée Zellweger brings the lovable and relatable Bridget Jones to life in this beloved movie all about self-discovery, love, and hilarious mishaps.
Supported by a stand out cast, the film is a delightful watch, filled with laughs and a warm dose of reality.
Bridget Jones’s is a character I’m sure lots of women relate to, and her portrayal by Zellweger is phenomenal.
I love watching this movie every February!

This is a bit of a throw back movie to my younger years, but such a guilty pleasure of mine.
Chelet Girl is a delightful rom-com that gives you space to shut off and fully immerse yourself in fantasy.
It’s a tale that brings you a charismatic cast, fun (albeit predictable) plot twists and heartwarming moments,
This is a good movie to put on if you’re looking for a watch that doesn’t require much brain power.

8. Always Be My Maybe (2019)
Ali Wong and Randall Park star in this delightful movie about childhood friends reconnecting as adults.
Although a the movie follows the predictability of most rom-coms and you can guess the plot easy, It’s one of those movies that has a special charm to keep you hooked.
Wongs performance alongside co-star Park just hits all the feels and I’m not too embarrassed to say I did shed a tear when the emotional scenes took place.
Available to watch on Netflix, this romantic comedy isn’t one to be missed!
9. Notting Hill (1999)
Another classic on the list that is the perfect rom-com this love season.
Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts star in this charming tale about an ordinary bookseller and a famous movie star who fall in love.
Is it cheesy? Yes!
Is it enjoyable? Thoroughly!
The story will sweep you off your feet and have you drawn in, in no time.

10. The Princess Diaries (2001)
Another childhood favourite of mine! I fell in love with The Princess Diaries as a child and still enjoy it to this day, making it one of the best rom-com movies to watch!
This is such a lovely, feel good movie that charms viewers with its whimsical tale of a shy teenager discovering her royal heritage.
Anne Hathaway puts in a phenomenal performance as Mia Thermopolis, bringing humor and heart to her transformation journey.
This modern fairy tale is perfect for anyone who loves a dash of magic with their laughter and is available on Disney+
11. Set It Up (2018)
This Netflix original about two overworked assistants trying to set up their bosses is a nice light-hearted watch.
Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell shine as overworked assistants plotting to unite their demanding bosses, only to find love themselves.
With its feel good vibes and endearing characters, it’s a heartwarming escape into romance and laughter, perfect for a cosy night in!

12. Sleepless in Seattle (1993)
If 90s rom-coms are your thing, then I highly recommend Sleepless in Seattle!

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan deliver heartwarming performances in this story of love and destiny.
It’s definitely a must watch rom-com.
13. The Half of It (2020)
The Half of It is such a good movie to watch that gives a well worn out trope a breath of fresh air.
This coming of age story cleverly twists the Cyrano de Bergerac narrative, offering a heartfelt exploration of friendship and love as a teenager.
The exceptional chemistry between the characters elevates this movie, making each interaction feel genuine and deeply engaging to us viewers.
I highly recommend you give this movie a watch on Netflix, at any time of the year!
14. Clueless (1995)
Clueless is one of the best rom-com movies that perfectly captures nostalgia and the essence of teenage life in the ’90s.
Well, the teenage life we all wanted!
With its witty dialogue and charming cast, including the lovable Alicia Silverstone as Cher, it offers a humorous and stirring take on high school romance.
