My 2022 Sims 4 Challenge | One Save for One Year

My 2022 Sims 4 Challenge | One Save for One Year
The other day Little Bear and I were playing sims 4 when he challenged me.
When I play sims I’m very much all over the place.
I start one save file and play it for a little bit then I get bored and start anew. So, little bear has set me aSims 4 Challenge to only play with one save file using one family.
No idea where he got this from. I suspect from the sims YouTube videos he watches, but it’s a good idea.
At first I was a little anxious as I’m worried I’ll get sick of it easily. But, I decided to take him up on this.
After all, Little bear challenged me and I just couldn’t say no to his cute face.
The Rules
As LB was the one to give me thisSims 4 Challenge, I asked him what he wanted the rules to be. Being the absolute cutie that he is, he said we should do them together to make sure I had the highest chance of success. How adorable is that?! My boy is the cutest.
So, we sat down and wrote out all of the rules for the challenge. (ps. he’s so excited I’m sharing this on my blog!)
The Rules are as follows:
- Play one save file for the year. No changing save files all through 2022.
- Play with one family only – can play different generations of the same family, even in different houses though.
- Must create a completely new family to start with or can download one from the gallery.
- The family must have one sim that can get pregnant and one that can impregnate.
- When creating a family, you must make at least one child.
- Cheats are allowed, but no skill or career cheats
- Must start out in Willow Creek for first home
Those are the basic rules for theSims 4 Challenge. As you can see, they aren’t too strict, which is perfect. I’ll be honest, I’m not great with challenges when they are very rigid because I like to explore different aspects of the game. I also like to play with cheats as I find having to deal with their needs highly annoying haha.
When it comes to the kind of sims play I like, I tend to steer towards story driven and go all out creating backstories, personalities and more. A perfect example of this can be seen in my post The Sims 4, Meet The Avery Family.
Getting caught up in a different world with endless possibilities has been a much needed escape the past few years. So with this 2022 save file, I intend to go all out with different story lines and some drama.

My plan
The plan for the playthrough is to create a fantasy world that incorporates the occult sims to give it an out of reality feel. Although I can only play with one family my intentions are to marry off sims to different occult throughout. To start with I have a spellcaster in the family and the plan is to make him the most powerful and take it from there.
I’ll have a separate post properly introducing the family I’ve created and their back story.
Make-overs and Renovations
To get my save file ready to play, I’ll be doing a few things first to fully flesh out the world’s and townies/NPCs (Non Playable Characters).
Starting with giving the townies make-overs. I want to create a world of different sims and give them more substance. Although there are lots of different sims within the game already, I feel they could do with a bit more time and effort spent on them to make them just right.
I’ll also be placing some builds within the world such as coffee shops, bars, play parks and more. The goal is to have plenty of places to travel to for doing things with the sims. I’m not the best builder, so I’ll take to the gallery for this.
Luckily I have MCC Command centre which helps give more depth to the game allowing me to make setting changes. As I progress through the game, I want the world to move with me so I’ve set it up to have empty lots filled, NPCs marrying, having babies and more.
Because I like a varied game and doing different things as I get bored stuck on the same story, I thought this would be a good way to set myself up for success. And Luckily LB hasn’t imposed super strict rules.

I’m so ready for this Sims 4 Challenge!
So that’s the Sims 4 challenge I’m taking on and my plans. Honestly, I’m so excited because I LOVE sims 4 challenges.
As this will be a year-long challenge I want to document progress on the blog every so often with updates. The series will be tagged and I’ll make sure to link all posts as I go within this one to make it more accessible.
To say I’m excited is an understatement because I love the sims, so getting to chat about it makes me happy. Plus, it will be a great way to look back and see the progression.
With all that being said, I’d love to include other creator’s sims and builds. So if you have any on the gallery you’d like me to put in, leave your ID in the comments so I can check them out.
It would be lovely to have some of your sims roaming around as NPC or visiting a build made by you.

This is so cute!! I play exactly the same way, one save for a little while then something completely new so I can see how this will be quite the challenge. It would be virtually impossible if the other rules were too strict!
I’m like you & when I get bored, I start a new save haha
This sounds like an interesting challenge & I’m excited to see what you’ll do in the save!
Love this so much! I am the worst for creating families and then getting bored and starting over again haha! I always end up user the ‘motherload’ cheat or whatever it is to just get endless money haha! This is a great idea! 🙂

What a cute story! Sounds like a fun challenge, I hope you both enjoy it xx
Good luck with the challenge! I don’t know why but I can never play through multiple generations.

Lovely
I love this! I haven’t played The Sims in SO LONG but my current laptop isn’t good enough to hold the game. As soon as I get a new laptop, I’m re-buying The Sims and I can’t waaaait. I stuck with one family for a long time once but then my game crashed and I lost loads of it. This is a great challenge idea!
This definitely sounds fun! I totally feel you with using the make sim happy cheat. I’m currently playing the make 1 million simoleons scenario and I’m currently a bit obsessed. I’ve been playing on this save alone for a good week or two and have made 70,000 simoleons so far, still a long way to go though 🤣 Looking forward to reading updates x
